hey there, i looked into some engine stuff here, and i saw that the fd inlet and outlet ports are significantly bigger than the ones from the fc, so, is it possible to like just swap them , for the sake of more performance. this would be for a NA.

sorry if this is a newbish Q, i am just curios i Guess https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Thanks in advance

but if you have fd irons and housings,,, wouldn't it just be a fd motor?

if you keep the fc center housing it will still even bolt in the car!

The inlets really aren't flowing much if anymore air than the fc housings. The FD lower intake has the air entering at a 45 degree angle while the FC is at 90 degrees. It makes it look much bigger though and if you were going to build a custom intake manifold, it might even be worth it. I chose against it, but I did use all of the FD internals and FD housings in my rebuild. The FD stationary gears are hardened and the bearings are multi windowed like the competition models. That and the FD rotors give a slight bump in compression compared to my S4 stuff.

This is all with regards to a turbo motor. As a NA, you wouldn't want to use the turbo rotors and will have to get an aftermarket intake manifold anyways.

If you use FD endplates don't forget you have to make a manifold bolt up / match ports to it

And if you are N/A your 6 port manifold will not work with those end plates

Check the photo out. Ports are the same on the inside of the motor. The ports from the LIM to motor are different.

left plate is a S5 ported, middle plate is a stock FD, right plate is a stock S5. Not worth the hassle ( to me ) changing to FD plates. Motor mounts, LIM, fuel system, intercooler pipe.

The plate on the left is a S4 not S5, sorry.

if u are gonan go thru the trouble of putting the fd plates on there, please do the rest of the mods for a proper NA motor. if u are just slapping the plates on its not worth it.
