Does anyone know how much approx it will cost me to rebuild an s4 13bt in my garage - what do i need parts wise? and how long will it take?, also how hard is it to install a full exhaust system?

Judge Ito 12-11-2002 07:42 AM

Did you tear the engine apart? what exactly is wrong with your engine? broken apex seals, smoking, coolant seals(over heating boiling coolant) break it down for us..

norotor_nomotor 12-11-2002 07:47 AM

im not sure whats wrong with it yet as i dont have the car yet... but its got over 200,000 km on it and my guess is its gonna need rebuilding sometime in the near future... im thinking new seals allover clean up the housing and stuff

norotor_nomotor 12-11-2002 07:48 AM

but i want a price for a full rebuild... im talking EVERYTHING

vosko 12-11-2002 09:35 AM

expect $3000 US

norotor_nomotor 12-11-2002 04:44 PM

o ok.. good thats less than i thought

j9fd3s 12-11-2002 05:46 PM

you could spend more if you want...

ya but i dont want a full race spec engine thats making like 600 rwhp, i want a normal engine that makes like 300 horsepower that i can drive reliably on the street

j9fd3s 12-11-2002 08:48 PM

super easy, the cost of the motor will vary with the condition of the parts you have to start with. for example, if the rotors are out of spec you need new ones etc. minimum you should do rotor housings, and all of the seals and gaskets

Well lets start by pricing everything out. I mean every part.

You can subtract from the total what you don't need to replace.

Let me round it all up. I'll get it up by tomorrow.

this is everything basically, except oil pump / oil pump chain, front pieces (torrington bearings etc, another $100 or so for all that) no front cover... no wber jets for oil jets mod, no thermopellet plug, no pilot bearing and seal... but the bulk of the possible rebuild costs are there.

I basically just did this rebuild, cept I used NA S5 rotors and NA S5 end housings, and reused my eccentric shaft. I also ordered all new S5 ribbed tension bolts (almost $300 in bolts right there)

It gets expensive if you let it, I also included the hardened RB stationary gears in the order... I also had mazdatrix street port the new housings.

Good job, you beat me to it.

I stay at work all night hoping to get work done on a project and instead I just spend all night procrastinating. Sorry if I ruined your fun https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

DJ Rotor 12-12-2002 08:25 AM

You shouldn't need the eccentric shaft and most likely won't need the side housings, rotors, or gears either. There goes a large chunk of your cost.

pengaru 12-12-2002 09:36 AM

nod, I believe the point was to demonstrate worse case.

vosko 12-12-2002 09:52 AM

my engine cost about that much everything is new except rotors and eshaft.......... mucho deniro!!!!!!!!!!

its not that much when you spending $4000 on parts. when i say everything on my engine i mean oil pump, etc

j9fd3s 12-12-2002 11:19 AM

yah i have a motor like that, it is a 12a though so

8871 side housings $350 total

n201 rotor housings $650 total

harden stationary gears $450?

new rotors $700

all seals and gaskets $800

competition oil pump $150

$3100!

norotor_nomotor 12-12-2002 03:07 PM
