A company im sure we have all heard of. Im gonna leave it up to the engines owner to reveal or give me permission to reveal if he does not want to register here. Lets just say their known for their apex seals.

This is a 13bt, i dont know if he has checked it or not but i would think the turbo is damaged from the pieces trying to go through it.

ColinRX7 05-16-2004 06:49 PM

Interesting. I'm pretty sure I know who you are talking about. I've heard of a few other motors come from reputable people that didn't return in good order.

CGeek2k 05-16-2004 07:02 PM

This is why Im doing my own rebuild. At least then Ill know the engine is fucked up. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I've contacted the company who did the rebuild... I've sent them all pictures and video (you can see them all at http://rx-7.inside.lv/Endoskopija/) and they agreed that it is the case the warranty covers... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png The only bad thing is they are located in UK https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png, but I live in Latvia (Eastern Europe...) So I need to pull the engine and transport it about 2500 km to their works and 2500 back... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png My idea was to drive my RX-7 to their works, leave it there for a week and then get it back in working order, but they set the price for engine pull and reinstall at 750 pounds (nearly $1500)!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

Stupid situation, isn't it?

M-RX-7 05-16-2004 07:27 PM

One more interesting fact: rebuilding my engine a year and a half ago they used one piece side seals (like mazda OEM seals, but made of their own material). Now they are offering only double side seals - their own construction. I wonder if they would engineer new type of side seals and leave them as the only option now, if old type was performing good https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif Maybe those side seals was the bottleneck in their technology and I am not the only one who suffered from similar defect?

another case of somebody not clearancing sideseal to port closing on a large streetport. I see they did not bevel the closing edge of the port causing the sideseal to get chewed up.....

if any **** like that happens to me i'll kill people. i'd have serious issues with a company if they told me they were making me do all the work or they'd charge me for their hassle and their fuckup. but your in s shitty situation. i feel for ya. i would seriously blow out a kneecap or two if i was told that ****.
