Guys, don't know where to post this and did a search and nothing.
What is the range of EGT temp when turbo car is tuned well. full load? What is the range when tuned not too well, like too rich or on the lean side? I'm going to get my manifold coated and want to pick the right coating temp range. Thanks Thanks Carlos |
I hear at WOT that a rotary can get up to 2200 F exhaust temps. when a piston engine hits like 1200 F . IF the engine is running to lean the exhaust can run hotter!

Running lean (14.7:1 AFR) at cruise I see 800-900 deg C in the manifold before the turbo, WOT It gets almost up to 800 C, but I am tuned rich (10.8:1 AFR) for reliability/low EGT at WOT.
From what I have read some tune turbo rotaries leaner for high EGTs at WOT and exceed 1000 deg C and an NA rotary will exceed 1000 deg C at WOT when tuned for max power (~13:1 AFR). |
Thanks guys.
I got my hks turbo cast manifold jet-hot coated with jethot 2000 which can withstand 2450F. I haven't done the turbine, will the turbine also see that high EGTs? I got the downpipe coated with sterling silver instead. |
