i would think the rotary would run into problems with complete combusion/mix because the rotor face is SO long compared to face of a piston. but some one should try it and please prove me wrong https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png. it would really not be that hard to do if you had a ECU that gave FULL control over injection/ignition timing and width.

Curtis Wright and later with the same engines, John Deer did this years ago in giant shipboard generator sets, in the 1,300 HP range. Also it was a multi fuel engine.

Better than the old Fairbanks Morse/Colt industries Opposed Piston 2 cycles from the 1920s, but the Navy didn't bite. So there are still one or two OPs on every new submarine.

I used to buy the parts for them.

I used to run and maintain those Fairbanks Morse ND 8 1/8's! So did my dad, he had to completely overhaul one on the James K. Polk in the late 60's when a NUB tried to restart one after a false start. Guess what? Water is essentially incompressable, OP dont take well to being turned into pumps
