Polishing is a bad idea when you're looking for heat transfer.

theres hp to be gained there though

wasn't there a thread about this before? i don't think it had any good info in it tho... so when you groove it, do you make it a spiral like a gun barrel? how much realistic power is available?

its not a direct power gain...

tryin to increase the cooling aspect for the motor..

which can equate to freeing up horsepower..

not to mention the reliability factor

an increase in the passages allows for more coolant...

i gather that adding grooves would essentially decrease the flow...

allowing the coolant to gather more heat...

oh. wouldn't a big radiator and a decent fan work just as well to cool? but i guess if you were looking at it money wise......

the only thing I can see in polishing is more flow. Polishing isn't a coat, its just sanding off the ruff finish off. AS you increase the grit the sanding gets finer. So i don't think it has anything to do with heat transfer, but it should improve the coolent flow. But by hoe much? And is it worth it? Where talking lots of time here.

I've done this in the past and it's definitely time consuming and if your looking for some kind of direct Hp gain your not going to find it here, but if you want a cooler healthier, happier reving engine than it not a bad idea.
