I searched the topic and didn't find what i was looking for. I have a set of ex-race MFR 12a PP housings and they were kinda slightly on the break of over heating and in one spot on the bottem it kinda looks a little bit fish scaly, And 2 of the scales have fallen off, they are only like 2-3 mm square, and i have run my finger nail on em in everyway and it doesn't seem like it is peeling or anything. What i am wondering is can i run the housing like this for as long as my carbon apex seals will last. I am thinking it may get worse, but mabye not if it doesn't over heat again. So should i get the housing refinished or should i leave it as it is and check it next rebuild to see if it has changed. I don't think i will get any blow by with the little bit of flaking. Thanks

you can get away with it, but i'd rub it with some fine sandpaper to knock off any sharp edges.

If i do that and run it, is there any chance that i can make it past the point of being able to get it resurfaced?

couldn't tell you.

Do the what now?

What i was saying is there anyway, that i can make it so bad by running it with the little bit of chrome flaking that it will make it immposible to resurface

I think the jury is still out on re-chromed rotor housings, the last I remember, it was a better idea to get new housings.

That sounds like a good option for damaged 2300 dollar housings
