The motor was stored in a backyard when the tranny blew. rear rotor is pumping 115 psi onall three faces. The front rotor is barely pushing 25 or 30 psi. Is there anything better to penetrate the carbon and break it up and lube the apex seals really well? I would like to get this motor running so I can pull it for another car. Given I have an extremely if not non existant budget, I could use any input anyone might have. I have the exhaust manifold off and have seen the rotors and the apex seals are not busted, but mearly stuck up inside.

You can try atf. Get the car cranking and see if it loosens up.

If you have yet to try anything, try spray oven cleaner. Stay upwind. It is nasty stuff. Through the exhaust ports if you can. Let it sit all day. Poke the apex seals through the exhaust ports. Turn it over a few times and add some more.



The stuff is designed to desolve carbon.



Once you get it loose. Use soap and water with the plugs out. then WD-40 or auto trans oil.



Should work great.

Wont the oven cleaner also remove the chrome inside the engine housings? I was thinking about using deisel if the MMO and ATF deal didnt work. It's driving me nuts man,... This is the second 1986 motor I have gotten and this new one is with the whole car! the first was pulled out of a junk yard car and was corroded badly. The parts have been cleaned but it's too expensive to rebuild when atkins rotary has new ones for 1700.

i would say definately use the MMO before the atf. try to fill the engine as much as possible with the fluid and then crank it over multiple times. if you can then flush all of the loose dirty oil out and try again. if this doesn't at least help a bit, you will have to rebuild.

Doesn't oven cleaner eat aluminum?

YEAH BIG TIME, so does carb cleaner if not cleaned out properly!

I have no idea what kind of carb cleaner your using but it does not eat aluminum. Besides, its a fast solovent so its does not stick arround very long when exposed to air.
