I opened up my block to find this on the front side housing. Can this be repaired or am I buying a new one?

buy a new one.

ya that is scrap, use it as a paper weight or make a cool clock.

I think maybe a bridgeport practice session may be in order. (a wee bit more productive than a paperweight)
