I know this is a general question but I think the answer will be a good deal of help to me and others.....

Heres the deal...Im not looking to go super nutso with power would ike to hit 350rwhp by not going single, and sticking with stock twins....I also love the idea of getting more power out of the engine rather then bolting on stuff (though I know some are needed)

Anyways what else is needed with a bridge port to run good with stock twins

Questions I have are..

Would I need a full exhaust (ie not run a high flow cat)???

.....if so then I would run a mid pipe, would I need to get a larger waste gate or have it ported as well?

Would I need a new chip (assuming so)??

Would I want to go with a bigger IC??

and a bigger radiator??

Is it pointless do this with stock twins??

Will a bridgeport increase the amount of engine compartment heat??? Is there steps that should be taken???

Ah yes.....this would be for a stock 93 r1

You guys rock.....

With a mid pipe you need to port the WG.

A bigger IC and Radiator IS HIGLY reccomended before you start cranking up the boost.

An ECU is also necessary (Apexi PFC is a great one)

Send the twins to BNR for a stage III rebuild (they will have to run non sequentially)

Don't need a bridgeport, a nice street port will do.

(A bridgeport's power band is like 6000rpms-10000rpms your twins will only choke it)

That power band is exactly why i want a bridge port....that range is where I drive (and so should all of you)

driveability isnt required in this car so low end torque is something i dont care about

obviousboy 09-17-2003 04:09 PM

and BNRs stage III rebuilds have yet to live up to thier claims.......

if porting the turbos is needed does anyone know the extent of that....

GarageBoy 09-17-2003 06:24 PM

The turbos will be too small for the rpm range. Bridgeports can even spool TA45s fairly quickly. They last about 30,000k miles, just FYI. Still, if you only want 350Hp, no need to go with a bridgeport.

Oh I noticed you are in NY, you have a "licensed" emissions shop ready to pass your beast?

your crazy to put stock twins/upgraded twins on a bridgeported motor...That's like going single turbo and then adding the stock catalytic converter. You'll have a bad ass setup...that can boost 7 psi https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png Stock twins are great for low end grunt and some decent mid range pull, but they suck top end. Bridgeports are almost the opposite. They're top end beasts...they just pull and pull and pull and pull top end. Your mixing salt and sugur in the same pot and it won't taste too good.

350 rwhp can be achieved with a good street port, good tuning, all the bolt on(or just most of them) and a good high flow cat if your worried about emissions. Ask GoodfellasFD3S.

my crazy friend put down 320rwhp with a dp, mp and cat back @15psi

oh yeah and my mechanic owes me one on the insepction sticker https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
