you will gain some more power up top but the low end will suffer because of the aux ports being open all the time.

Ive removed mine before, didnt like it very much, mainly because i saw a drop in gas mileage (other people have reported they havent though) so i put them back. Also honestly i couldnt tell the difference between it versus my pineapple style sleeves, except that i lost low end and gas mileage.

It might be differnt on a gsl-se though because you aux ports are much smaller and close earlier then the 86 cars.

you loose almost all of your power under 5k, gas mileage goes down. imho its better to leave em in and working

If you remove the sleeves, youll lose power across the board. Without the sleeves, the runner ends beyond the port, and thats really bad for flow.



I generally dont recommend removing the sleeves or even disabling the 6 port system. There are exceptions, but generally speaking, the people who could take advantage of it already know what to do.

the thing is mine dont open up, the little levers that the actuator pushes up to open the valve are stuck, and i actually broke one trying to wiggle it free, sooooo i guess having them open all the time is better than having them closed all the time??????

open is better for power then closed, but just go to a boneyard and pull a LIM, thats what i had to do back a long time ago when i got my car. One of the actuator rods was frozen, so i just got a junkyard LIM.

If youre set on removing the 6 port system, at least do it right. Remove the actuators, and bushings, and fill the 2 holes in the LIM. Remove the pin from the sleeves, clean the sleeve really well, and clean the runner really well. Put some silicon on the sleeve to keep it from turning, and put it in, carefully lining it up.



Use a silicon thats O2 sensor safe(most arent), or take out your O2 sensor for a few days afterwards, or replace it a few days later. You can use a non-silicon gasket sealant instead. whatever you use though, try not to get any into the port. While it probably wont kill your engine, carelessness wont get you anywhere. Also, while Ive heard some bad things about the pineapple sleeves, it still helps the airflow, and power, especially at lower rpm's. You could also do a little porting on the end of the sleeve so it doesnt trip up the airflow there. Just make a smooth transition(read sharp).

Or use the sleeveless euro housings :-)
