I am feeling too cheap to spring for the Competition rotor bearings for my beater engine, but is there any advantage to the FD rotor bearings over FC?
Looser clearance? Deeper oil groove? |
The fd rotor bearings have more clearance than stock fc, and theyre very close to the race bearings available for the fc.

i was going to upgrade to these but was told that i would have to upgrade the oil pressure to 100+ psi like the stock 3rd gen

thats a $30 oil pressure regulator away....
|
Yeah, I have done full Pineapple style oil upgrades (includes race 120 psi regulator) plus some more oil upgrades.
I now see the FD rotor bearings come is sizes, so I will get the largest. Should be a nice beater motor- if I like how the porting drives I will put it together with new rotor housings and better seals eventually. I haven't managed to hurt any of the oil systems parts when I blow them up so I don't feel bad putting "some" money into these re-useable pieces- but the cost of the comp. bearings are over the top https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |

What OPR is that? and what will it fit? I want one! Stock 93 13brew $35.79 from Mazdatrix http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.as...m=14-2300-N3A1 If running 100psi oil pressure for street use on a non 13brew motor, like a s4/s5 13bt, you will put a strain on your oilpump. But it will work. The 13brew oil pumps are designed to hold up to continuous use of 100psi oil pressures. |
