welll i had a problem before that my Eshaft was moving back and fourth well i got all the part yesterday and i decided to work on it at 0 degrees out. well i took the front cover off and i notice that the o ring wasnt there but the teflon ring was there, im like "WTF that probably why i got low oil pressure". so luckilly i got a new o ring and teflon from mazda so i was putting everything together i put silicone on the Oring and teflon right to hold it in place while i was putting the front cover. so that was yesterday. today i started the engine, cured the eshaft movement but i only getting 20 PSI?????? im like "WTF is happening" so i shut it off. start her again and the same. so my question is, it it was the oring that i put it wrong or is something else? BTW im getting a VDO oil pressure gauge to make sure about it, this is from my stock oil gauge and is working perfect. so should i trust the gauge, should i waited to warm up or is there anything wrong?

BTW is a 84 gslse with a turbo II engine. thanks

I have a trick that I do to check for proper oil pressure after the engine is running. But first tell me if the engine's oil pressure rises when you rev the engine.

20 psi on idle is fine. on initial startup in the cold u shoudl see lots more then 20 as it warms up it will go down.

hey judge ito

i start it today and started about 20 psi in idle and after 2-3 min dropped to 0 psi, and i let her for about another min or 2 and it didnt smoke or nothing. and i rev it up and like 20 psi. so i dont know to believe the gauge or not https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

some builders leave out the O ring and just use the teflon ring w/hylomar on the front cover. depends on what series engine it is what approach they take.

i was the one who put the front cover on, i put both teflon and rubber O ring with hylomar on it like mazdatrix FAQs said

Eddie this is what I do for a quick oil pressure check when I'm not sure if the gauge is working correct.. I go to the front of the engine and I squeeze the oil line coming out of the engine while the engine is at idle. If that oil line is brick hard to the touch you have real good oil pressure and your gauge is incorrect, but if your able to almost squeeze the oil line shut with your bare hands while the engine is running then you have a problem. most likely when you re-installed the nylon washer and the O-ring it might have fell off the side housing.

ok ill do that tomorow if it starts, is been cold here and is been a pain to start the car. ill let you know thank Ito

ohh well i gess it felt off, is not brick hard. i can squeeze it. dam thing is driving me nuts. thanks
