For 86-91 13b Eccentric Drive shaft(N326-11-D00B) is there a big difference from the 93-95 Eccentric Drive shaft(N3A1-11-D00B). Can I interchange them?

pre 86 (except for the GSL SE, someone clear that up?) 13Bs have no thermopellet, they run full time oil pressure through the shaft..



86-91 have the thermopellet



fd has the thermopellet too, but its slightly different than the FC, the thread and depth is slightly off..



so in theory, yes, they are interchangeable, BUT im not sure if the pulley boss fc to fd is different.. if the pulley boss is the same, you could use an fc shaft and thermopellet/front bolt, and the fd pulley boss..

pardon me, i meant to say oil thermovalve, which cuts or supplies oil pressure through the eccentric shaft for rotor cooling depending on the oil temperature



they are prone to failure, where as it will cut oil pressure full time, so alot of people replace them with thermopellets which basically shim the spring so that there is pressure all the time no matter what temperature





i had a whole whack of thermopellets machined for 13Bs, and as it turned out they would only fit fc3s 13B eccentric shafts.

FOUND OUT........



THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BUT VERY VERY SMALL.



they are contructed the same. they are out of the same materials



the rear main beaing oil whole is about 1/16 to 2/16 futher back .



So either you can drill a off set whole or move the bearing slightly.

or

you can live with it (not do anything but swap it out)and dont use the engine as a huge HP motor

which ones which?
