well, i sold my 13b-re cosmo engine, but still need an engine for my 91 n/a rx7. i was wondering how difficult it would be to build and install a s5 4 port n/a engine (tII block, n/a rotors) what intake and exhaust manifolds should i use? i have a 6 port to get the rotors out of, possibly other parts. also, how difficult would this be to install in my car? can i use the existing ecu and wiring harness? would a stock ecu handle this even if its ported? how much power could i expect? 200whp? the only way i know to get a lot of power out of a rotary is to put on a turbo, but i'd rather keep it n/a. i will also do rotaryman88's staged n/a upgrades, plus a streetport. also, does anyone make high performance chips/programmers (like jet, hypertech, superchips) for fc's? would that increase hp? thanks.

one more thing.....would renesis rotors work in this application? would they be better than stock s5 n/a rotors? i really need to know soon so i can start back on my project. i hate not having a road legal running rx7. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

come on, somebody MUST know if this will work.

Never done it, but I can take some guesses.

Use the TII intake manifolds.

Use a header of your choice.

Stay away from Renesis rotors, go S5.

Chips? cant help you there..

Check the dyno section, Kahren did 186 on 9.0 TII rotors.

9.7s should yield some more power.

alright, thanks! but will that work with my stock n/a ecu and harness? and what about the TII intercooler? i can take that off since i wont have a turbo, right?

rotaryturtle 09-03-2006 02:50 PM

and Kahren got 195hp out of that engine, but its a 6 port, and i hope to use a 4 port. so, basically all i need to know now is if a stock n/a ecu and harness will easily run a 4 port engine without a turbo, or if a piggyback would work better.

The harness may need to be modified. If its all connected right I dont see why it wont work. What exactly its gonna do, I dont know. You need some control over fuel to maximise power.

The intercooler would serve no purpose, dont use it.

Kahren N/A TII

Paul Yaw put together what you're looking at doing. 210whp at 7800rpm. 9.7 NA rotors with street ported TII irons.

would a piggyback allow me to have control over the fuel?

Right.

Whatever your comfortable with. EMS bieng the best and will yield the most power.
