this rotary mechanic i know offered to rebuild my engine for 3500 bucks. not porting or anything, just a straight rebuild. porting probably another 200 bucks but i dont know if i even want to port my engine. anyways, is 3500 a good price for an engine rebuild. or is he trying to rip me off a bit?

I think that isn't a bad price. I was quoted about $4000 a rebuild on mine by KD Rotary. That is all I have to compare it to though. Is he going to use new rotor housings? If he is I think that it is a good price

he said all new parts. not sure what "all" is but i dont think hed **** me on the parts. ive known him for quite some time now. he knows his ****, so im not worried about the quality of the build. just didnt know that was what a rebuild cost. thought more along the lines of 1000-2000. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Nah that sounds about right, especially if using all new housings.

I have only owned my FD since October, but I am finding out that every part for the car seems to be at least $1000 & in $1000 intervals.....LOL Well, it seems that way anyways. Good luck with the rebuild though. As soon as I have the cash, I will be doing the same thing.

One option is a mazda reman. Call your dealer. Think the last I checked it was ~2500 including the core.
|
a mazda reman?

I have seen quite a few mazda reman engines go in and right back out of the car. I would say pay the man the money and have him rebuild yours. It would definitely save the builder a giant headache and wasted work hours. Good luck either way.
