I just bought a full rebuld kit for my '91 n/a motor and tried to get it with the factory 2mm 3piece apex seals and was told they had been discontinued. Had anyone else heard this?

Still available out here in New Zealand. I have a new set here with corner pins and springs if you need them. Email me: gwmaz@02net.co.nz.

That is correct they have been discontinued-according to scott at mazdacomp. My 2 piece seals just came off backorder. The two piece seals are made out of a different material or coated with something. I have also heard, but have not confirmed, that they have a slightly different shape. I've been trying to get info on them for a couple months now. Even the mazdacomp guys are in the dark. If I find anything out about them I'll post back.

According to my sources here, the only 2mm seals available are the 2 piece renesis style seals. I don't know for sure if they are the same as those used in the renesis, but my source said they were.
Tell you what, sure as hell makes it easier to put together! No more superglue https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
the renisis seals are shorter than the regular ones

This is for 2nd gen seals right?

All 2mm 3 piece stock apex seals were replaced with 2 piece ones by Mazda here in Japan since MAY.

All three '89 - '91 non turbo motors I have broken down have had the 2mm 3piece seals. I am not sure if they were used in the pre-'89 non turbo motors. |
