For anyone interested heres a few pics of an a Long EZ I've been working on. Its running a T66 turbo, microtech ecu, twin aeromotive pumps and the block has been ported and dowelled. At a guess its making around 450hp but thats not enough for the owner, he wants 800hp! Needless to say I'm not working on it anymore, its getting unsafe. It already has 90lb of lead in the nose and is way overweight, especially now retractable landing gear has been fitted. Its pretty cool to see it flying, its a noise like no other, you can hear it miles away!

90lb in the front eh? wonder what would do if the engine decided to cut out?

any idea how much ammo it would be for v8 nuts if it crashed?

800hp in somthing that size, sounds fast thats for sure

how bigs the fuel tank?

cheers

The airframe is built for a certain speed (I forget what it is) so he can put a huge amount of hp into it and not go alot faster, not safely anyway. Designed for 120 odd hp originally. It has to be safer than the turbine that came out of it - with this engine it flew twice and crashed once! Fuel control wasn't correct and the jet was prone to flaming out.

800 hp? He better be carefull with that gear reduction drive. There made to handle so much hp. Also, I really don't see him getting anywhere near 800 hp with a 20b. Also I don't think the prop is going to put enough load on the engine to allow the turbo to make enough boost to make that power.

that thing must be extremely LOUD

The owner thinks he'll get 800hp no problems, he won't listen to anyone who says otherwise. Reduction drive will handle 1000hp, or so I've been told. No problems with the prop, its variable pitch and he can fit whatever type/size he wants, depending on engine rpm.
