Hey guys -

First post here. I've torn down my 13B 6 port...1st rotary rebuild. Some of the stuff I've read indicates that you don't gain that much from porting a 6 port...is this true? I'm planning on putting a Racing Beat Holley and intake on this engine, along with a header and free flow exhaust. Will I gain anything by removing the sleeves in the exhaust ports? How about enlarging the exhaust ports...will I gain anything by doing that but nothing to the intakes? Enlarging the exhaust ports looks relatively easy compared to the intakes, so if I can gain some horsepower by doing this I'll give it a try. I have an old 12A housing I can practice with first.

I'm not looking for balls to the wall horsepower...this is meant to be a street machine, but I'd like to get as much horsepower as a I can while keeping it drivable.

Thanks,

Rich

You won't gain balls to the wall power but while you have it apart you might as well port it. You won't be able to take much out of the secondarys but the primarys can be opened up a bit. Opening up the exhaust won't hurt either. Try to locate some TII exhaust sleeves and swap those while it's down. With a conservative street port you can net 10-20hp over the stock ports.

Working 6-port sleeves can give a noticealbe low-end boost. But getting and keeping them working is a pain IMO.
