This simple but effective modification works really good for the messy oil leaking third gen's oil pan. In the pictures you will see how I punch the engine and oil pan sligthly with a sharp point chisel. When this is done the oil pan and engine become abbrasive and will not allow the silicon to slide easily away from the surface of the oil pan and creating a better seal when the permatex is applied. I have yet to see an oil pan leak since I started doing this simple mod. I hope this is of some help.

How hard is cleanup?

I would trade a little more cleaning time for no leaks, ive never went without oil leaks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

I use Permatex Ultra Black invariably all the time on everything. It's proven itself to be very stout and effective for me.
