Hey Ito, I had a hell of a time locating the Carbide bits to do my engine.

Do you know of somewhere online that sells them?

Judge Ito 12-14-2002 06:24 AM

Online not really. I get my bits from my local welding supply store or the Snap-on tool truck, check to see if snap-on has a website. I saw last time you were using a black and decker dremel. How many rpms does the dremel spin? I have a nice Makita dye grinder and it works pretty decent. Makita turns at 25,000 rpms.

Fd3BOOST 12-14-2002 06:48 AM

Well I started with a dremel but since that seemed to take forever I swapped over to the proper pneumatic tools and 1/4" shanks.

I did try Snap on online before but it was only for vendors.

I don't have a welding supply near my house.

I just tought it would be cool if we could post a link to a good supply.

Judge Ito 12-14-2002 07:08 AM

very good point. I have a catalog of all kinds of tools in the shop Ill check to see if they have a site..

Ebay is awesome for buying tools. I can get snap on tools for about 50-75% cheaper then off the truck. Then I just break them and get a new one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

The snap on guy doesn't like me too much. But he is an ******* anyway.

where do u buy your dremel bits for porting the side housings?

Srce 06-24-2003 01:25 AM

I imagine Home Depot must have them, otherwise Hell froze over.

TheCamel 06-24-2003 03:03 AM

there are a ton of them on here, all shapes and sizes for any port job you might have. Not sure which one he bought but it ported the exhaust on his 20b in 15 minutes. He has quite a bit of porting experience and these cut through the stuff like butter.

kahren 06-24-2003 12:30 PM

it gets kinda expensive for $5 a piece https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Joe Flo 06-24-2003 12:38 PM

You have to get the Carbide bits, Or at least that is what Dave said when he did his. Home Depot sells the bits for $9.99.

I just bought my dremel a week ago. Cool Toy!

2a+RoN 06-24-2003 07:38 PM

I use both. Dremels are better for fine, precision-type porting where the die grinders are better at going hog-wild and taking metal off.
