Wow, this section is dead. I hope some of you are autocrossing these cars they do really well.

I should have switched to my street tires prior to this run heat but felt maybe the track might be O.K. since there was hardly any standing water.

Big mistake. If you listen close you can hear what I would describe as a loud vibration, that would be the sound slicks make when encountering severe under steer. It was hopeless, my lap times dropped 7 seconds!!

I forgot how to drive this car, its been 2 years, and I was in my 911 mode and I was not pushing the RX7 nearly as hard as I should have when it was dry. I did not have my camera set up for the dry runs. I was 6 seconds off the leader and normally I am right there with him.

Oh well.

Here are the vids:

This one I stepped it out too far and went on a wild ride and almost meet up with a light pole. In the vid it does not look close but when it was happening I was at maximum pucker reminding myself not to look at the pole look where I WANT to be.

I was glad to pack up and leave, it was a frustrating day, I look forward to next months event and attempting to redeem myself.

try to make me reason with running on a wet track?

seems to be too risky if you aint getting paid for it with someone else's car

I will agree it was especially risky to run this track in the wet, normally the venue is a huge skid pad or parking lot with nothing to hit except cones.

What I have learned driving on the edge in the the wet has proved very valuable to me on the road. Actually what I have learned driving at the edge period and paid off in spades on the road.

When I turned her sideways it was mostly my fault, I "tried" to step into her harder than I should have. As you see in the video I am not really that close to the pole but when it was happening I felt I could quickly find it and forced myself to not look at it and look to where I wanted to go, I was aiming to go to those cones I drive through. You can see I missed my target but I was glad to clear the pole.

BTW - I am entering in the 24 hours of Lemons in South Carolina with some friends, as we speak a 3 series E30 BMW is being transported to be stored in the garage of my vacation home in the North Carolina Mountains where it will be stripped down then shipped to SC for a roll cage and safety equipment. Then entered in this act of insanity.

The race has no rhyme or reason other than guys having fun playing car. Same goes for Autocrossing and DE's in the rain, no way to explain it other than if you do not understand, I cannot explain it to you, you will never understand.
