I know I'm too cheap to buy the SCCA rulebook and the 2003 one will be out soon.



I would like to know the rules on exhaust for street prepared class RX7's. I have a presilencer and pipe in place of all the cats.

CSP for the 7 runs NA FBs and FCs...

Its been a while...but typically SP allows you to run without emission controls and run a modified exhaust with noise restrictions...

another concern I had about sp is that most guys I believe run autocross slicks like V700's..... I guess it doesnt matter much since its my first time next Sunday and I need to learn a lot first anyhow.

if its your first time..

you can run in the novice class..



some quick advice: jog the course a few times..



if you dont have a portable air tank or compressor..hit an air station prior and increase your pressure to about 40 psi...

run chalk marks on three points (from the center (starting from about the middle of the sidewall)to the tread)...

after your first run...if there is still a mark on your treads...lower your pressure one psi...if the mark exceeds and ventures into the sidewall...increase the pressure....your gonna need to do this until youve achieved the right pressure and contact point (between the tread and sidewall)



have loads of fun...



imo...runnin with your street tires will provide you with a better understanding of your car and its limitations under street setup

You will be in the Novice class for your first event. I am not sure if its the same everywhere but around here you get 3 events in Novice.



Yes in SP you can run an open exhaust.





As far as tires go don't worry. When you are within about 3 seconds of your class leader then consider getting some Victoracers or Hoosiers.



As far as tire pressure goes every tire is different. I found running 33 lbs in the front and 28 lbs in the rear with my toyo proxes worked great. I was running 40 lbs all the way around and was not getting good traction.



You have to experiment with that one. The Shoe polish trick works good.

Walk the course a lot as many time as possible. Then do a couple of ride alongs with instructors to fet a look at the course at speed.



I did this and won Novice my 1st time out. My car was nearly stock except for a full exhaust.

I was on street tires too.



By riding along with an instructor you get to see where you can go fast and where you need to take it easy.



Remember smooth is fast. If you are plowing your tires (understeer) you are pushing too hard back off and let the car drive.
