I've got links to quite a few competition tire manufacturers so I thought I would post them.
CAUTION!: Most of these tires may not be used for street use! They are legal when new, but not recommended! Some don't have sizes to fit all our cars, but here they are anyway: Drag Tires *moved to drag race forum in case you're looking* Autocross - Road Race Tires Goodyear Eagle GS-CS Hankook Ventus Z211 Hoosier A3S03 & R3S03 Kumho Victoracer V700 & ECSTA V700 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Nitto NT-555RII Extreme R Pirelli P Zero C & P Zero Corsa Toyo Proxes RA-1 Yokohama A032R New tires available for next season: Hoosier: A3S04 & R3S04 Kumho: ECSTA V710 Yokohama: ADVAN A048R |
i have the 555R II 's right now i like em!
|
I am using the Hoosier A3S03's and have a set of the Vivtoracer V700's too on another set of rims. The difference in traction from one to the other is noticable in favor of the Hossiers.
|
i need a tire sponsor they are too goddamn expensive for me since i like doing burnouts https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
|
I need one too! No burnouts here though.
Yokohama gives away a set of A032R's every SOLO I weekend here. People that use Yokohamas that weekend get entered in a draw. In 7 weekends they only averaged 7 people that made both events on Yok's, so my chances are good if I get a set at the start of the year. |
Et streets are very good. Stick like glue.

I can't find anything softer than a 140 treadwear from Bridgestone here. I think they used to bring one, but can't find any info. Post some!!!

They are also very over spec in certain sizes. The 225/50/16 I use for example footprints wider than the 235/45/17. The mates & I have tried R-Comps in Proxes (RA1), Yokahama (032R & 008R), Dunlop and Bridgestone on our cars. (Silvia, 180SX, Rx3, Rx4, Mk2 Turbo Escort, Cosmo sedan) Most of us are on Brigestones now! The Bridgie suits my Cosmo well, the sidewall is FAR stiffer than ANY other R-comp available here. We have used 520's & 540's. Mate has a set of 555's on his Rx4 coop in 255/40/17. They havn't rolled yet we are still doing the race-restoration/rebuild on it but they should be good! Getting a wheel tyre combo that big on a old car without it looking dumb and having no lock was fun, but the grip level should pop the eyes out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |

I am thinking of getting a set of those Hankooks if they are cheap. Victoracers used to be cheap when they were first out. They were trying to prove they were good.
I want to get a really cheap rim/tire setup for my Mini. This might be the tire. |
Our SOLO I overall series champ used Hankooks.

OK. I am STILL waiting for a spec sheet to scan but RE540 & RE550 Potenzas are available in Soft, Medium & Hard compounds, marked on the sidewall as 'Type S,M or H' I am told this equates to treadwear of 40, 60 & 80
Sizes 215 & 225/16 + 225 235 255/17 225/16 and 255/17 are control tyres & well over spec. 225 footprint 238, 255 footprints 270 but the rules take the measurement as written on the sidewall....good move Bridgestone https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |
I use Nitto 555R Drag radials as daily drivers. I'm thinking about getting some BFG Comp T/A's for the track since I"ve used them before. I have NO experience with circuit/autocross/road racing tires. How about some insight on different type of tires for different types of racing? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

Alrighty then, updating! Keep in mind all the tires in this thread are 'DOT legal', though not necessarily reccomended for street use.
