I don't like it. I'm putting my PS rack and pump back in. As I'm getting better, I can see how no power steering is limiting me. FC's are hard enough to drift, I don't need to make it harder. My car has no body roll, so it snaps back pretty suddenly. If you're not ready for it, you'll spin out. Also I was doing some donuts with a PS equiped car, and it was so easy to control with just one hand. My car it's 2 hands all the time. I liked no power steering for grip driving, but not for drift.

Ive been thinking this also. I took my ps off for drag and i do like having it off. But like you said, it does affect your drifting abilities substantially. My only problem with putting it back on is the damn bracket that it goes on. That thing is big, ugly and gets in the way. yep...you need that extra bit of control the power steering gives you.

Is no p/s really only practical for drag racing?

So no ps is bad for autox and road racing?

i think they take the power steering off for drag racing cause, for one they dont steer much and also its puts drag on the motor, so when you remove it you free up horsepower

Power steering is removed to save weight in drag racing and parasitic drag. I dont have it in my TII and when I road race I like not having it I can feel what the car is doing better. In Autocross I dont like it because I have to turn the wheels fast, like in drifting, and I cannot move the wheel fast enough. Well, I can but after 4 or 5 minutes of driving my shoulders are killing me. Especially when I am running 10" wide slicks on it.



I would definatly go with power Steering for drifting.

i can drift pretty well with no P/S, but i cant drift for toooo long.



Driving around on the twisties the steering wheel doesent even feel non assisted to me, even with 255/285 potenzas. I dont mind not having it, its really not that bad in parkinglots.



I havent auto crossed yet with no P/S, so i cant say. I have a second FD and i drive them back to back a few days ago. No PS is better IMO, but for a drift car i would put it back in. Seeing as how i dont drift often enough to really need PS, i dont see that as a concern.



For 'grip' driving, no PS kicks ass. The car feels much more solid and in control, no twitchy steering.



I would keep it if you are drifting. It isnt that much of a power gain.

i learned how to drift my s13 with p/s and now my fc basically has no p/s and i love it so much more...more control, more feeling, go tell those guys with the ae86's none of them have p/s at all, it rules. i love it, its easier to correct yourself. thats just me its become my preferance.
