Is there any real benefit in having 2 set up this way?

Yes besides 'shifting mad quik' does it have any other benefits. I personally do not like the sound of BOVs and would prefer to have it plumbed back. But in a single turbo set up I can see this being difficult.

Only thing I can see there really being a benefit is that if one BOV fails, the other should still work...

qwester007 03-16-2005 11:54 AM

You should only use one BOV-

and the stock BOV works fine until a certain psi, then it will crack after repeated use.

how about 4 twin chamber bovs? 2 before and 2 after..... id'd be awesome!!!!! think of all the noise!!!!! get 4 diffrent kinds and then it will be like magic under your hood...... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Il RX8 lI 03-19-2005 11:13 PM

And then the BOVs would have sex under your hood and multiply!

I was under the impression the reason to have a bov on the TB side was to prevent boost still in the piping from slamming against the throttle plates when there closed and on the turbo side from damaging the turbo. Right? But then again you lose boost response since there is none in the piping.

CletusFD3S 03-26-2005 12:09 AM

yeah.... then maybe... you could hav 16 blow off valves tune them each right so every time it goes off it plays "la cucracha"

onefastrx7turbo 03-26-2005 12:10 AM

they are put close to the TB because when in boost, and the throttle plates close, that is the first blockage for the air. Once they close, the air will continue to back up, all the way to the compressor. By putting the the BOV close to the TB, you are creating an easier route for the air to escape, right next to the blockage. Air, like liquid takes the path of least resistance...
