I'm curious as to how hard and expensive would it be to turbo my N/a 13b? Because everywhere I read, I'm being told not to get a jdm T II motor or any jdm thing at that. And Since that seems to be the only thing around me that I can find, the only other alternative is to turbo something myself.



Any ideas are welcome and any suggestions are appreciated.

The stock S4/S5 turbo's wont bolt to the 6 port block without a spacer because the intake manifold gets in the way. So you either have to get ahold of a spacer, or you need to get a TII lower and upper intake manifold and modify the lower intake manifold to feed the aux ports.



Besides what else needs to be done to the motor (larger radiator, wiring harness modification, intercooler.....) you will need to swap out the entire drivetrain. You will need a new clutch, new flywheel and i think counterweight. You will need the entire rear assembly including differential and half-shafts.





Basically you need either a TII donor car with engine and tranny or you need to buy a TII. By the time you get everything you need to do a turbo on your NA you would have been better off selling the NA and buying a TII. If the NA is in excellent condition then you will need to swap damn near the entire driveline and power train.



There is an NA -> TII swap thread on the other site that can show you exactly what you are gettin ginto and the reasons why its hardly worth the time.

If you use a Turbo II intake manifold the stock Turbo II bolts on.



Here is what you need:

Turbo II Exhaust manifold & Turbo

Turbo II Intake manifold (lower and upper)

Turbo II front cover (It has the oil drain for the Turbo on it)

Turbo II Intercooler



Oil line for the Turbo can be tapped off the Oil Pressure sending unit

One of your Rotors will need to be drilled to allow coolant into the intake manifold

Turbo II downpipe (Corksport or other 3rd party unit works well)



The lower Turbo Intake manifold needs to be doctored up to bolt onto the 6 port N/A motor. The bolts are in the right places, but the ports are a little different. Easy enough to do



The Turbo II has a larger clutch, So your clutch may not be worthly. The N/A trans should hold the power as long as you don't go crazy.



You won't have the Factory knock sensor. Fuel could also be a problem... You will probably want at least 550cc injectors and perhaps a add on fuel enhancement device. (At the least a rising fuel pressure unit).

New holes are drilled, I did this one with standard tools and then filled the Turbo ports.

i did it on my car



everything mentioned above on the na block, plus all the tii sensors and ecu on the na harness with a wire or two depinned. plus 550 primaries and 720 secondaries. ran my turbo coolant with the lines that used to feed through the bac.



its actually not all that hard, and not too expensive. im pretty sure im under 1500 with the wideband and everything, but i wasnt really counting. plus i alraedy had the safc2.



im still on the na drivetrain, as soon as i get a few bugs worked out the clutch is going to burn off, im almost sure of it, after i get a nice one im gonna beat the **** out of it and see if i cant asplode some drivetrain parts. but im still one 205s and 215s on the back, so i doubt ill have enough traction to really asplode anything drifting, but we'll see.
