Could an aftermarket transmission cooler also be used as an normal oil cooler?I could not tell what the difference is?

if there is a difference id think it would be that the gear oil is thicker, but even thats a stretch. i think its the same thing

cool i would most definitely like to have a definite.Cuz all my cooling supplies that i buy are from nascar shops.I bought my radiator from a nascar supply.it is able to cool 350 cids running 8k rpms and 800hp it can cool any rotary. This is also where i bought my transmission cooler. Now nascars do not run automatics so im thinking it would be used as an oil cooler too.So ill keep asking until i get a definite on this.Oh yeah i will also be using fuel coolers on my car also.i do not know why no one else hasnt thought of this?

The stock RX-7 oil cooler is one of the most efficient around. The only one better is the RX-4 Cooler. A lot of porcches run Rx-7 coolers. Why go to the extra expense for the change?

i already had it from my v8 conversion.but i am going back to a rotary,so i am wondering if i can use it as an oil cooler, instead of a transmission oil cooler.i think it will be fine.**** it.

Just make sure that it's rated for over 8 kilos of pressure(appx 116 psi)

Most trans coolers have smaller internal tubes than an engine oil cooler. You don't want to restrict the oil flow and cause a pressure drop accross the cooler.

FWIW - The NASCAR style engine oil coolers (SW style I think?) are BETTER than the factory Mazda cooler. They are the same you will find in aircraft. Not sure about the new stuff they are running, but this what they used to use. Most are rather dense and shaped more like a cube than a radiator.
