Okay, I've been looking around the internet for a while trying to find out info on Supercharging my 90 GXL n/a. Does anyone know a company that makes them for 2nd gen 7's? Do you think it's a good idea, because it seems like not too many people do that. I would be running low boost and it would be on a pretty much stock engine accept for the Apex dual N1 exhaust i just ordered. By the way, does anyone have this exhaust? I was wondering how it sounded and if there was a large/noticable increase in power?

Our crew has used the Apex'i N1 cans for quite some time with great success. We're switching over to the HKS Carbon-Ti stuff but I personally like the way the N1's sound. With the presilencers, they have a nice, deep, throaty tone which removes the chainsaw sound uncorked rotaries tend to produce.



On the supercharger, talk to Atkins Rotary (http://www.atkinsrotary.com). They own Camden Superchargers. I personally don't recommend the use of a supercharger on a rotary per its architecture (making it perfect for a turbocharger).

Superchargers work best at low rpm ranges. Rotary engines work best at high rpm ranges.



I used to talk to a guy with a SC'ed FC and he said he wouldn't do it again if he were to start all over. Dave at KD Rotary shares the same opinion of them as well, for what it's worth.

the exhaust of a rotary engine has alot of energy present, moreso than a piston motor, you can harness that with a turbocharger, this is one of the main reasons I would choose a turbo over a supercharger on a rotary... I also don't like the design of superchargers, they require an internal gear box or belt drive to step up the rpm's (need to spin around 50,000RPM or more) theres jsut too many moving stressed parts for my liking, with a turbo you have one moving part.

Superchargers put a significant load on the front of the e-shaft, which it was not designed for.



Plenty of people do use them though, more so in Australia it seems.
