I've done a ton of research and I've found a few supercharger kits including one that atkins sells which is a roots style supercharger. I know that the roots superchargers are much beter than the centerfugal as far as performance, but is it worth it to put one in the car. Right now i'm running an 86 Gxl with an atkins 13b in it with street porting on the motor and a full exhaust from a racing beat header to a 3" random tech cat into a set of apex dual N1's. I think it would cost me too much money to put a tII motor in the car and with less than 20k on my new motor i wouldn't want to switch stuff over right now... plus i'm not planning on putting anything in the car unless it makes it fast without lag. I don't care about dragracing... i just want my rx to look good and out handle my boss' porsche 944 turbo and blow him away through turns along with most any car that i come up against. I have friends that always want to race me, and with most of them i don't bother, but they all want to go straight i love going around turns and driving in the mountains and around country roads where i live.

The roots type is not more efficient but it does give boost pretty much right off idle unlike a centrifugal.



I'd look at the costs very closely before deciding it was less expensive though. Since you already have a good engine that would lead me to say go for it.

There are lots of superchargers for sale on e-bay. Most will require modifacation to fit. Toyota has two that would fir and one has an electrically activated clutch. I am serching for the model numbers now and I can't find the slip I wrote them on. :bigthumg:

yeah they still make them for the fc's i've been searching around like a bitch for about a year and a half now because i'm not sure if going with a turbo would be the thing for me, but i'm not making enough power being totally N/A.



Here we go this is the Atkins rotary site and i'll just make the link to his page on superchargers for rotary. He's out of washington state and he builds one of the strongest motors that i've seen out there. He also makes 3mm apex seals and everything and his **** is ******* great. There's a supercharger kit or two on there and they're both good... he also offers them for fuel injection and also with a carb. if you're building a car for track the carb setup might be the way to go because i'm sure you all know that most injector systems suck ass for drag racing especially. it's just how they dump fuel differently. with a carb power is garunteed to be there exactly how you want it and right when you want it, but with injectors it is a little in consistent and the power comes a split second later after the air to fuel ratio is balanced out. i'm definately planning on sticking with injectors because i don't need to build my car for track, and i wouldn't have any shot of passing inspection in the wonderful state on New Jersey with a carb on a car that comes stock with injectors. That's an automatic fail from the state, but then again i don't know how i passed with the exhaust i have i'm running 3" through the cats and my cat back where it goes to 31/2 and then out the ass end 41/2. but anyway there's his site and i think they're pretty nice superchargers too... oh and by the way the stock injectors on an fc3s are good until you're pushing out 350HP anyway.
