Anyone here have any ideas about fast steering racks? I know the principles involved, I know you can buy them for some cars, has anyone here made one for a car that did not have an aftermarket rack available?

I never heard of it. Care to elaborate a bit??

A fast ratio steering rack ie 2 turns lock to lock. As I understand it an increase in the pinion gear teeth will achieve this but the pinion would then be physically bigger surely? How is the faster ratio acheived within existing steering rack casings? (As it is on the ones I have seen. Havn't been able to pull them apart to look at them!)

What's the benifit of a "fast rack" ?
|
Yeah i wanna know what you mean too sounds too complicated to do and do you wanna aply it for drag, street or road racing?
|
i would think a faster rackwould be for auto x or road racing... on the street it wuld probly be annoying.. or on the highway... one little twitch of the wheel and youd be across 2 lanes... oops

lol mabe it will teach you how to drive better after you slam into a few cars. lol what do you think?

So you could eliminate your PS install a "quick rack" and it would be like having p/s without the crap in the engine bay? Is that right?
