I am racing my 3 Rotor Turbo running about 16 PSI boost and are having extreme overheating issues even thou I am running 2 large radiators. I am beginnning to think it is an oil cooling issue, so my question is how big an oil cooler should I be running?

It could be that or a combination, if your shimmed too much the oil might be running through too fast as well, not giving the oil enough time to get cool

I agree ! How much oil pressure do you have? A stock first gen. oil cooler should do just fine !murmullo13!

3 rotor turbo? you're gonna need BIG GIANT coolers. you probably wanna start with 2 stock FC coolers, or maybe a pair of rx8 ones and see where that gets you



oil pressure, the more the better, the FD runs 100psi...

You should be shooting for 160 degrees of oil temperature, and 180 degrees of water (or coolant) temperature.



This will require nearly the same size oil cooler as you run for water now. It needs a fan behind it

for pit stops and very hot days. If you have a dry sump system you could use smaller units in the scavenge lines as well as a big one in the pressure line. The scavenge line units are less effective as the air entrained in the scavenge oil acts as an insulator. 100 to 115 PSI is plent of oil pressure. Extra bearing clearance of course.



Google Speedsource RX-8s and look at the coolers in their cars. If you Email them they might tell you the brands and size they use. They just won the 24 hours of Daytona again, and sounded as good on the last lap as on the first.

i'll be running dual 34 row Setrab's (which are pretty damned big) on my 3rotor turbo car.. no data on how well they work yet. Let us know what you come up with on yours and how it works out.

Here is my set up. Three 40 Row Setrabs. Two on the left are in the scavenge loop, and the right one is in the pressure loop. Just enough for a NA 12A. This is for 250 HP. Twice the HP would require at least twice the cooling.
