I'm fabricating a new CAI setup for my 88 n/a. Wondering if there were any setbacks to moving the AFM right next to the throttle body. Will it read incorrectly? Can I do this even if I change to an S5 AFM?

i dont know if it will read incorrectly, but it will get really hot right there....

does anybody know if it will read incorrectly? Maybe negatively alter my power?
I can take care of the heat problem with ingenuity (probably). some technical input would help. thanks |
Ran mine for years like that... .NOT one problem. Just make sure the AFM is not pointing up or down. Make sure it's level so it opens properly with airflow. If it is pointing down it will take more vacuum for it to open making the car run leaner, opposite for pointing up. Although it wont make much of a difference tilted IMHO. Just make sure its level.

The flapper in the AFM is so light, and the spring is tight, you won't have any troubles running the AFM at an angle or some other direction. Having the flapper pointing up may lead to issue though. The AFM will read correctly and will not get that much hotter.
This is exactly what im going to be doing. Look at this thread, I put some info there. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/ind...howtopic=56181 |
