hey i got no air pump w/ dp , stock main cat and stock catback. now with the life of my main cat slowly fading away i have been looking at possabilities but since even high flows will clog up im left with either getting a new airpump or a midpipe and id rather go midpipe. but that means im gonna get boost creep which scares the hell out of me. if i picked up a profec b would that stop it or do i have to look at the waste gate?

and with the waste gate, do i have to buy an external (like those honey comb looking things) or do i have to port out the one i have?

oh yea and how much does it cost to port the wastegate..

you can make a restrictor for the exhaust so you dont get creep

how so

with a midpipe you probably spike to 15-16psi..... you could always run a midpipe and popoff the vacuum line so the boost stays at 7-8 psi https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

pfc controlled my full exhaust without issue...

with stock wastegate...

creep was intermitent...highest value was an additional 1psi..

of which i didnt mind...

you just need to tune your ecu to compensate...

I had a hell of a time controlling boost with my sequential and the PFC. I've heard that the profec B does a good job of controlling boost...but the only real way to control boost creep is to port the wastegate.

yeah, never underestimate the power of boost creep. i trashed my engine like that. i was at the drag strip last november and saw spikes as high as 20psi at some points......UN KEY! i learned quickly that boost control was very important.. however, i already knew that, and ignored it on purpose...

Port the wastegate out around the edge 1/16"

You can do the work yourself. It's not hard. You just need to pull off the turbos and disassemble them.

Once you get that done you can get the tools from either harbor frieght or ebay.

All you need is a carbide burr and a pnuematic die grinder and access to an air compressor of coarse.

I would try amp's suggestion first though since it only requires makeing a few adjustments on a key pad. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

what year is it i have a mid pipe for sale for a 2nd gen.. pm if interested

A pop-off valve will prevent overboost from creep and spikes. It will release excess boost over your preset limit.
