You know what i mean...
you can't tell me it's like alaska in CA?? In a hot climate a Bar and Plate i/c has the advantage, and vice versa, A water to air core made from the factory ic is the best bet in my books any ways. using the existing ac heat exchanger as a radiator Has any one else done this??? |
I know some one who welded 2 pinto heater cores together to make an air/water IC. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png He said it worked real well.
|
It depends on the design of the cores you have.
I wouldn't recomend welding cores together, but then i have done it in the past. The stock series 4/5 ic jacketed in alloy makes the best i/c for this. Would anyone like to try it?? |
i have welded 3 together on my prelude before, pressure drop is not good above 1.0kg.
tube and fin is what i recommand, better air flow on the ambient side. bar and plate builds an invisible air-wall at high speed, and the resistant makes the ambient air hard to pass the fins for heat transfer. Delta Fin is a better design, by APEXi. Which directs the air (ram air effect) into the fins, and which cools quite well at higher speed. It is cheap, very resonably priced as well. |
I've also been looking into the bar/plate for a front mount beacause even my SMIC fins get all bent, so I can imagine the fins on the tube/fin FMIC would get thrashed! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png
Is Spearco the only company that makes a bar& plate FMIC? Yes they are heavier but they are smaller, so the weight issue is offset by size. The only downfall is they are more expensive. |
I don't think there more expensive.
There's a company here in Christchurch New Zealand making them for $900 NZD for a EVO sized front mount. |
Hey, "ILUVMY88CABRIO", how many rows are in the greddy FMIC on your 10th aniversery?
|
It is a 2 row. It is just GReddy's "cheap" $1100 intercooler kit.
