Just received my jet hot coated down pipe and want to install it on saterday. I can only see two of the four screws/bolts to the turbo manifold. Been spraying liquid wrench on the visibles one for a few days now.

Can it all be done from underneath?

Do I have to remove parts from on top?

Should I buy new gasket(s)?

Should I buy new screws/bolts?

Anyone have links, pics and/or advice on this?

On a 1-5 wrench scale, how hard is this?

thanks

It isn't all that bad really, I would definetely get new gaskets. The bolts I would say are optional, I have removed all my exhaust systems without replacing bolts, but you never know, they can get ugly coming off.

I am not sure on the third gen but I think you are going to be removing from top and bottom.

Hope that helps.

You won't need new gaskets. The gaskets are metal. Just clean them off with brake cleaner and re-install. The gasket is like $20! I've done right in soaking them in brake-free. You'll need to two from the bottom and 2 from the top. Re-use the nuts/bolts, that's what I did.

When re-installing, be sure to use anti-seize compound. Helps alot when removing later.

This sucks! Why can't I just build a cumputer and replace the engine with it, uhg! So far i've removed the intakes to get to the air pump to remove the y-pipe. I can't remove the air pump! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif ok, i'm ready to go to the dealer at this point

Downpipe can be a 1 hour job or a several day nightmare.

There are 4 nuts on the precat that needs to be removed. You can see three from above. There is one you can only see from below.

Spray a soaking lubricant on these the night before and the nuts on the precat and main cat connection - there are two.

Should be easy if the studs do not come out while removing the nuts as long as there are no clearance issues with the passenger side of the engine bay.

If you need help, give me send me an e-mail. For a couple of brews will gladly help.

Where are you in Orange County? Better yet, how far are you from Pasadena?
