Anybody have any opinions on a better sounding exhuast, this has been the worst sounding out of all exhaust ive heard on 3rd gens. Plus its very restrictive.

The most comont response youll get is the Racing Beat Duall Tip.

Has the stock look but nice sound

If you are running a midpipe I agree the Pe is loud. You can do like I did and weld in a muffler to th midpipe. I used Dynomax ultra flow and now my exhaust sounds SWEET.

I'm holding out for the absolute best exhaust out there, I just don't know which one it is yet. I've heard on a different thread that the "Border Burnout" sounds the best but I just don't know. If I get an exhaust and it sounds like a 200 pound bumble bee farting along down the road, I'm gonna shove it through my windshield!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

absolute best exhaust out there IMO..... and the reason why i got it is...

racing beat dual tip exhaust`

well, i heared the greddy Pe was the absolute best sounding but abviously not:( .

I would much rather have a canister style exhuast. I want more of a deeper tone at idle, idle sounds like crap, I dont care what it sounds like at wot.

Alot of people are going to say theirs is the best when you ask them about exhausts.

The RB dual tip does sound and look very nice https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

Did GReddy redesign the PE? I had one on my car for a few years and I thought it sounded good even though I think it looks silly with the huge tip. I ran it with the stock cat and a high flow cat (much louder). The sound was always deep and the sound level was quite reasonable at idle. It sounds like a jet plane when you get on it (big whoosh but no bumble bees). Does your PE have square edges on the canister? My old one had rounded edges on the cannister, but I think GReddy redesigned it since the one I had.

You will get a lot of different opinions on this. I prefer the quieter (both in sound and looks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR) exhausts like the RB dual tip, but I know a lot of people go crazy for full 4" barely muffled ear bleeder setups.

For the cost of a single cat-back system from one of the tuner companies, you could probably afford to try a few different mufflers from Jeg's or Summit. Perhaps it would be worth trying a few different custom setups to see which you like best. You could probably sell the ones you decide not to use for something close to what it cost you to make them.

apex-i dual tip?

apexkw 03-31-2004 01:51 PM

yeah i heard that there are two style pe's also. and that the older model(big canister and tip) was the one that sounds better. i have two guys local to me that use or used the old style pe and it sounds really good. much better than my apexi gt spec
