Just curious if anyone has had any novel ideas. Of course, being an FC guy, I don't have gobs of money to throw around building a one-off 5 g transmission that will hold 9 million ft/lbs of torque, I just want to know if there are some good ways to keep the transmission together at around this output. Perhaps I should consult a local tranny shop?

I already have a 1.5-way Kaaz and about as civil a clutch as I can get away with without slipping through every gear, but the transmission feels brittle even at 11 psi.. which is a problem seeing as I'm about to start pushing near 20 psi. The synchros are starting to go as well, and I really dislike the sloppiness it's starting to show.

Ideas?!

Many thanks,

Mark

I think I responded you one of your posts but I'll put one here as well.

Like most people have told you the cheapest (and the route I would go) is to just get a full rebuild on your TII transmission.

If you really want a different one you could go with a T5 trans. Kennedy engineering makes an adaptor should be the easiest alternate trans to use.

for a near unbreakable box u could go dog mission box. mind you if you dont mind putting some elbo into changing gears or the ride then this is it! only problem is here is aus they cost a good $7000.00

i know this is going to seem like a sin but i have not done it but it has been done. use a supra 5 speed.

what type of a supra as in year?

If they make the adapter bell housing, the World Class T-5 would be an excellent route. Those things take a beating in the Mustangs at the strip and keep coming back for more.

Depends entirely on the driver. Some people can make them last a whole season in 10 second cars, others regularly spit transmissions out even with 12 second models.

They are better than the AOD, I will grant them that much, but that's not saying much either.

as long as the supra 5/6 speed comes out of the 1993 and up should be fine, will need to fabricate an adapter plate and i think there will need to be slight mods to the transmission tunnel but i know it can be done.

I'm planning on throwing a dog mission box or a supra 6 speed. both have their pro's and cons.
