ok I need some info here preferably from people who have the solid onebar designed etb, but any etb will do as long as it fit's a 3rd gen.

Basically i need to know the length of it, also pics of the mounting bracket will help me rather nicely.

oh and if you can list which etb you have and how much you paid it would also be beneficial lol https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

For a good torque brace call Garfinkle in Murfreesboro Tn. His brace has rubber bushings on each end of the link. He makes the link to fit your car. He gets $85 plus shipping. the fender mount has 6 bolts and the uim uses his part not the stock motor pull part. Call him for info at 615 893 -4469

teknics 04-19-2003 09:30 AM

i dont actually want an ETB, just wondering how big they are https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

here a pic of an old design I did last year, it's a GM FWD motormount, actually the "dogbone" found on top of the engine. It worked excellent, but I decided to be cool and get the FEED one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

teknics 04-25-2003 08:30 AM

actually im making my own, was trying to get specs before i get my FD is a little hard tho.

Not to make this a pricing war but mine will prolly be about $75 with bracket, all bolts and such included. it was being made for a project that i was working on (supporting members may have seen it thanks to srce) which is sorta in trouble due to server issues.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif i want one of the 100 dollar ones https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png or cheaper

Fd3BOOST 04-25-2003 05:49 PM

You can make them for pretty cheap. There really isnt much to them.

You could buy all th eparts from Home Depot and do it under $30.

Benny 04-25-2003 06:14 PM

directions!? ill go make one right now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Benny 04-25-2003 06:14 PM

FikseRxSeven 04-25-2003 08:42 PM

wasnt rxplicit in the process of producing torque braces?

jspecracer7 04-26-2003 08:18 AM

$100????...I did mine for about $5 and a stock FD rear strut tower bar... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

where is the "how to" haha i know SOMEONE has to know how to make one damnit https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

teknics 04-26-2003 12:22 PM

lots of people know how but if we just go out and tlel you then the marketability loses value and ETB's become non-profit making products.

just go out and test some ideas out, believe me it is super easy.

FD3Boost if you can send me the dimensions over AIM it would be helpful. I have about 5 different ETB shafts and a couple brackets already setup with a unique preloading setup and everything, just need to see which one fits and so on, also as many pics as possible would help, if everything turns out chea enough i could sell them for $55 who knows.

kevin.

rxplicit2 04-26-2003 04:13 PM

yeah, we will have them soon. they will also be available in yellow, blue, and red annodized..they WILL be VERY competitively priced...

louis....

teknics 04-26-2003 06:17 PM

hehe i can go down to about single digit prices per brace if need be and if i dont want to make a cent, that doesnt include labor to make the brackets though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

kevin.

FikseRxSeven 04-26-2003 07:31 PM

i'd buy one for each side of the engine if its in the single digit pricing

they'd would cancel each other out

even tho this'll probably ruin my chance to sell them, the materials before labor only cost me about $15 and it doesn't look ghetto at all it has a nice finish, is super strong, and works, or in theory should work, as is necessary. Believe me it's been through rigorous testing, not as an ETB but as another piece on something else my family owns. However after labor to fab a bracket, get rubber bushings, go get the appropriate bolts and such to ship with, then shipping itself, you can see why the price would have to jump up a bit.

oh and mine comes with adjustability aka pre-loading like the feed ETB https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

It was cake. Mine is a solid brace though, no dampening whatsoever. But since I've got solid engine/diff mounts, there's tons of vibration going on in my car.

Either way, I took the stock rear strut tower bar(the adjustable kind) and cut off appx. 18 inches off from the adjustable end. Then I took the non-adjustable end and cut if off(appx. 1 inch from the end). I made mount to go onto the UIM and then eyeball measured the distance from the mount to the fenderwall. Then I got Dragon to weld(since I don't have a welder) the non-adjustable end to the other end of the adjustable one. Made a bracket to fit the fenderwall and BAM...engine torque brace.

yup thats pretty much the necessary requirement, fender to engine, sturdy mount.

expec the final product from me in about june with a group buy orchestrated in the gorup buy section, im thinking about $55-$65 for 10+ people, we have to see how everything goes.

Fd3BOOST 05-03-2003 07:37 AM

On a side note. Mine stripped out he hole on the ack side on my UIM where i had it mounted.

I have a few extra uims but the arent polished. Next time I have it off i have to retap the hole. :(

i heard they put a lot of stress on the LIM and UIM....thats whats kept me away....

they look badass though and i want one ... "whats that??" "its my vtec- very tall engine coolant"

complete and utter bullshit. Someone ask Dragon how long he's had over 400 rwhp and his engine torque brace. I guarantee you he'll say over 4 years.

FrestyleFC3S 05-12-2003 11:38 PM

hmmm.......sooooo KEVIN make me one for FC

jpandes 05-23-2003 01:45 AM

Dude, Get a tape measure.

Mine cost $17 bucks. HomeDepot style: 2 big ass eye-bolts. One 8" and one 10" with 2.5" hex nut in betwwen to connect them together creating a 20" bar that is adjustale. I then got a couple of 3"x0.5" bolts and various nuts and washers to connect them the flange on the UIM and the small "L" bracket against the engine bay wall that is bolted to an existing threaded hole. I also stuck some rubber grommets inside the "eyes" to minimize vibration and rattling...Easy.

It aint pretty, but it works! You can sort of see it here:

rx7 store.net got them ETB but they want alot for them thats the one on that blue car

Silver Ninety Three 05-23-2003 03:45 PM

I made my own out of an old fd toe link. Connects to the passenger fender by the fan relays and to the place where the air pump mounts.

apexkw 05-23-2003 09:40 PM

got any pics of that?
