I read in a mag (import tuner) they had a 20b build up

with over 1000hp, they were using an electric water pump

to reduce the strain on the engine, giving you more power,

all you have to do is get an electric fan as well and plug and play.

I tryed finding this electric water pump , and no luck,

would it be possible to just atach a 12volt motor to the pump

and make some slight mod's,??????

any idea's?

P.S. im talkin about the 2nd gen.....

there is a kit, but its a pretty custom deal, you have to relocate the alternator and all the other accesories

Why should you relocate the alternator, there seem's to be

plenty of space as is...it's a small motor the size of a fuel filter.

shouldn't be that complecated.

Worry about getting your MSD's first. Electric water pumps are not for the street.

yes, but what hold the alternator when you take off the water pump?

Yeah and if I had a 1000 HP 20B, I'd be worried about the 1 HP it costs to run the water pump... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

Sometimes people doing 20Bs like to use the electric ones because I heard that the stock 20B one isn't that great... so your next pick is a 13B REW one... but even better is a very high capacity electric.

djgiantrobot 03-15-2003 02:55 AM

the reason to use the electric is if you choose to not run the FD accessories, its pretty much impossible to find a replacement 20b waterpump even if you decide that it is high enough capacity. If you set up your car to use the 20b pump and it goes up you either have to get a used one or risk remounting alot of stuff in the front of the engine to fit the FD pump. Electric water pump seems to be a good alternative for all that messiness.

Summit sells them.

Edit: I just looked on their website, and couldn't find it, but I saw it in their catalog.

couple things

1. it would be nice to see numbers on how much power the water pump takes to spin, its more than 1hp

2. cosmo water pumps are easy to get but they are $$$$

www.evil7.com has a unique water setup

he says he has no problems keeping it cool (was said on rx7club)

Also cars making that kind of power are probably running methanol or alcohol which runs a **** ton cooler then gas. And they are only going very short distances.

electric water pumps can be run on the street. There advantage is the flow alot of water at idle and low rpm. Belt mounted pumps only flow allot at high rpms. You also save a little hp because you are not using the engine to power the pump. You can get remote mount pumps and mount them anywhere. summit sells them, check out http://www.csiperformance.com/waterpumps.html

OK Couldnt you do the belt style electric water pumps??????? They still run off a belt but are electric motors...Hell with the smog pump gone you should be able to make a bracket from there......Ive been trying to think of a way for one my self but havnt though to hard yet was waiting till i got off my lazy ass and finished polishing so i can start to assemble the motor......Then i will probably put the electric one on there.........I feel this is the way to go since every 1 is scared about keeping there car kooler and this will do it at a stop sign were most cars get hot...........

Ok i looked into this more and found fluidyne makes 2 versions and i figured price to hp gain its not worth it.......IT will work on the sreet but at a price tag of $400.00 dollars its not worth the 8% hp gain.......Unless you're tapped out and there is nothing else left.......Or you could just turn the boost up a notch.................

I don't understand all you would be takin out

or eliminating is the pully and the fan,

the rest well you fabricate a pice of round

metal with four holes, and attach it too a

12 volt motor. I f the car is at 1k or at 8k

your water pump will always be turnin at the same speed.

No need for 400$ equip. or fancy devices.........

Maybe it's easier said than done, but sounds good to me..... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif
