Hi I'm Younkin1

I'm looking at getting into the engine of my 12a rx-7, I've checked out alot of websites and everyone has their views on how to modify a rotary engine. My question is where do I go from here? should I port my 12a with webber intake, go turbo 12a draw through, drop in a 13b FI, or swap a turbo II engine into it. I want to stay in a budget of about $3500. Someone please answer me that has a good back gound in this area. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated. Thanks

Well I would ditch the stock exhaust for a racing beat set up, that will give you good power. Than I would run a nice dual carb side draft set up. With this the car would be a whole lot of fun, and it would only cost you around 14-1500. But thats just my opinion, check out the 1st gen section, there are some threads about turboing the 12A in there.

yeah it depends on how much power YOU want. a 300hp setup is different than a 150hp setup

speed costs money how fast do you want to spend https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

12A can do 150hp on stock ports - is that enough? or 180 on a street port - how's that? Bit more spendage, 30hp more. If you go turbo the sky is the limit, to both power and cash outflow. Someone on this forum is developing a turbo kit for 12As, can't remember the thread right now. It was in 1st gen specific.

Hi Everyone!

I guess my first question was kind of vague so let me re-phrase it. I've got about $3000-$3500 to spend in the engine and the 12a in the car has about 100000 miles on it now. I want to build to most street driveable engine possible for everyday (summer only) driving. My first thought is do I work with the engine I have now or do I look for a 13b (4-port or 6-port). My second thought is to go carburated and not FI for reasons of $, maintenance, and reliability. My third thought is "kiss"- (keep it simple stupid). Ideally I'd like the engine to produce 225+hp.

I'm I being realistic?. I hope you guys can steer me straight!!. Once again I really appreciate all your help.

Thanks agains

DJ rotor just answered your question.Just put a bolt-on turbo kit and you'll hit your power goal. Then save up and get a rebuilt 12a to turn up the boost on. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif
