As the title says does anyone know anything about electronically controlled differentials? I'm thinking of going with an '03 Cobra rear end and the ECTED diff will fit into that housing. The benefits of this diff is that I can change from an LSD to a full locker at the flip of a switch. How would the LSD aspect of this unit compare to stock, Cusco, or Quaife units? Here's a link They generally cost around $550-600 which seems like a deal compared to the previously mentioned differentials. Thanks, Ryan.

If I read it right, you can either use a switch or let the computer control it.

I read that part too. But letting the computer control it would require an OEM to program the ecu to add that function. A switch could only do on or off, right? If this is the case, wouldn't you lose out on functionality?

Personally I was planning on using a switch. The locker function would just be for drag racing. I don't know if I'd even worry about a computer controlling it. Maybe my TEC3 could control it. Who knows? Right now I'm just worried about how well the LSD will perform. I don't want a differential that will let one wheel smoke all day long while the other one is the only one getting traction.

If it's good enough for Subaru and Ferrari.

Does that mean that they use Auburn Gear differentials on Subaru's and Ferarri's or electronic differentials in general?

Sorry, just electronic diffs in general. Don't know about Ferrari, but IIRC Subaru use diffs made by a very good English company called Prodrive.

Here's what I want; A locker function for drag racing and an LSD function for daily driving/autocrossing. I don't want to hamper my cornering ability, so if you ignore the locker aspect of this differential entirely would this LSD be an improvement over the stock FD or Cobra diff?

Oh and Prodrive had nothing to offer for FD's or Mazda in general. At least not on their website. Thanks though, Ryan.
