I am seriously looking at an FD when I get home, I am deployed right now and sold my previous car before I left.

I would like to know how much advance you are running, along with your a/f ratio and how much boost w/what turbo.

Just so I can get the general idea of what is safe to run, since you can't listen for knock then back of a little.

I am looking to probably get a T78, and run a AEM EMS. I also noticed their aren't many of you running the AEM.

Any thoughts on that compared to the others? (Haltech, etc)

One last thing, how are the trannys in the FD's? I looked on Autotrader and several had rebuilt trannys at 85k...

how much punishment can they take and how long do they last? any info/opinions on the T78 or anything else is appreciated.

slow down there soldier....

i am not sure about the AEM unit, as it is till new, but i have heard many good things about the unit itself, as far as the tuning parameters and capapbilities are concerned. i know that there are a few supra owners using them, and supposedly, they are easy to use....

a safe a/f for the fd rx7 is around 11.3~, with leaner options out there, but a rotary is not the best thing to push to the limit, unless you like tuning, have a lot of money, and want to see what a 13+ a/f ration can do.....

the t78 is a very popular turbo, especiall if you like to drag race, however, as far as the comments, i will save them for someone who owns a t78 and would like to comment.....

there are a few tranny issues that you might need to be concerned about and they mainly involve the 5th and 2nd gear synchros.....always go through every gear if you are tesing a car out...i have never had any issues from my car except the 5th synchro, and it has 144K on it...if you are going to put a t78 on there, some will say that you will be ok, but i say, and this is from reading experience and first hand watching, replace stuff as it breaks, and do not worry. axles may last one pass, or 20, and so forth and so on for stuff like the rear end and the like......

good luck...
