Was read reading Aprils Turbo Mag and there was and article on sun auto Hyper ground systems,

anyone using these?

It show's an FD with fmic, cat back, pfc, 550's, 1300's, and stock twins

Dyno and it claimed a gain of 15.3 Horse at 6500 rpm and an avergage of 7.09hp

Holy **** just from ground wire's, it also show's results from an S2000 and Suzuki Aerio, although they did not gain 15+ hp, they still showed gains

So is it for real? apparently XS Engineering is intalling them and finding gains

Should that be the next thing I should put on, I mean it really is not much for them, probbably around 100 bucks, but for the gains if true, seem like it would be worth it

What you guys think?

i think it's also supposed to cure the '3,000 rpm hesitation under light throttle'.

i've thought about it, but there some other stuff to take care of first.

it wouldn't hurt to try though, it's not like it's expensive.

i've also heard of people just doing the same thing themselves. you just gotta know what ground points to use/move to.

it's like $108 IIRC. It all depends on the locations of your grounds, I'm considering asking turbo just where and how they mounted the ground wires, because if you dont put it in the same spots you'd have varied results.

Personally a) if i had an fd and b) if i had an extra $100 i'd go for the grounding kit. And you could use speaker 4 gauge wir, but the hyperground system is like pure 100% copper and flow much better then other normal old wire.

wtf does iirc mean?

good point about using the same ground points they used, same wire etc...

teknics 02-23-2003 08:58 PM

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly

yup if you dont use the same points the results will definitely be different. THats the second time they wrote that article and that rx7 chart by the way, i found that part funny. hehe. If you read the article it says they had to move around the wires and test it on the dyno each time to see if the results were better or worse. SO if you have a free dyno or a lot of dyno time you could use it to find the best spots, otherwise id consider mailing turbo for the spots they used.

I stumbled over the same kit while looking for parts on an Fd. It looked like it was worth the money. But I dont think it would be the same with speaker wire. Unless you get the pure copper kind...but with the cost of that you might as well by the kit!

R1TT 02-23-2003 09:18 PM

supposed to have some kinda copper wire's which have 1477 strands, anywhere you can get that stuff? also if you use other wire's would you not see those types of gains?

out of the 3 cars that they tested 2 which were 2002 model's, very close to brand new and the rx7 which is 1995, the newer cars only gained a little , where the 7 year old car gained a whole lot , you guys think its cause of the older wires , perhaps more resistance build in the wire due to corrosion or heat in the FD's engine bay , or perhaps the design of the electrical system in the fd? causing the FD to gain so much, I wonder how a newer rz fd would do in the test?

I saw that article as well, very interesting. Here is a link:

damn

im thinking what kind of a differnce would it make on an fc???

ground wire isnt even as good as the one from fd's

i would like to see if it would make that great of a difference

Upgrading your grounds and adding a few extras is no secret boys.

15 HP? Hmmmm I dont know about that.

You can get 4 guage ground straps from any automotive supply.

Hell if you call Pettit reacing they send you some that are free.

They arent 4 guage but they help.
