I have a fairly low milege 87 fc (83,000 miles). So the engine and tranny still feel good. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif I was wondering how much I could add to the 13b with bolt ons..... I'm going to be honest this comes easy to me on PISTON engines.... I've worked with them before so I've done the usual I/H/E, wires, pullies, tb, clutch, cams, manifold insulators, high compression head gaskets, and nitrous.

But I'm really new at rotary performance....I don't know what to do https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif Though I guess I start at the same place right? Intake & Exhaust? But after that I'm a little lost....

please help, a fellow rotary owner......

BTW yes I did see this sticky, but it only addresses intake and exhaust.

What about pullies? Oh and how well do pacesetters flow?

I'm thinking about usingn a pacesetter header, followed by a Maganaflow Cat, and then RX7.com's cat back.

Okay, I'm prob getting the following,

-Pacesetter Header

-high flow cat

-underdrive pulley

-SRI

-and switch to royal purple.

I think that's a decent start. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

I would recommend staying away from the pacesetter header unless you are ok with replacing them every couple years.

The oil recommendations with range from 10-30 to 20-50 and usually castrol or other good oil (stay away from penzoil and quaker state IMO). Do the thermal pellet mod so that both rotors get oil at all times. A lot of people do the cone filter but you would be just as well off with a drop in K&N. Underdrive pulley's are ok but really not necessary.

High flow cat will be a must if you have to pass emissions (might need more than one cat LOL!)

I will completely support Magnaflows though! They are great, price is right, sound is great, and the lifetime warranty can't be beat!

When I had my FC I went with RB header, cone filter, thermal pellet mod, modded and ported throttle body, emissions removal, and magnaflow mufflers that were roughly stock size.

The pacesetter would get cyramic coated. Any gains on boring the TB? Aftermarket ECU?

Right now I have a cat back and a K&N drop in https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

if doing the throttle body mod be prepared for stalling and a little rough idle with cold starts. Aftermarket ECU would be pretty pointless with an NA but if you are interested I think someone is still selling a plug and play megasquirt unit for the s4 for $500 shipped I think.

Megasquirt ECU would allow you to do any mod imaginable to your car.

I actually understood there to be gains made on the S4 13B. The S5 featured improved ignition/fuel maps over the S4's ECU (in addition to the higher compression rotors). So I think there maybe some gains to be made even if only 7hp.

But thanks! I was looking for a aftermarket specific solution but there don't appear to be any :(. I'll have to go piggy back or stand alone.

Rtek just released ver 2.0 for the s4 n/a car

I'm waiting for the s5

Go with Racing Beat exhaust. Well known to be a great product, long-lasting, great sound, and you could always sell the exhaust to someone else if you're not happy with it.

Exhaust would be the biggest bolt-on power adder. As for intake, the most power you could get would be from individual throttle bodies, something like this. Which would also require an aftermarket ecu.

If you want a really fun car though, go with suspension. The n/a 13b can only get so much power with bolt-ons, and after doing all that, most people wish they had gotten a turbo in the first place.

How does that work? Piggy back? full replacement stand alone? Does it come with some base maps that would automatically increase hp a bit? (with fine tunning to be done latter).
