So, I picked up this '76 KZ-400 a few years back for $100. It had like 2000 miles on it. Never did get it running right and it sat in my garage. Last year, my friend says he wants to put it on the road so I gave it to him. He put two new tires on it and rode it some, but recently decided I could have it back.



Just went back through the carbs and I think I've got it all straight. Got a tag on it and my insurance guy says I'm good to go!

Nice! I like the classic bikes.

I just got back from a nice little 17-mile ride. She handles very nicely, but I don't have a lot of things to compare her to, since most of my two-wheel riding time is on bicycles. The idle is still surging. Got back to the house and twiddled with the carbs. Settled right down after a few adjustments. Then stalled. I'll see how she does next time out.

I spent a good portion of my childhood on a honda trail 90, i wouldn't mind having one of them again. it was pretty cool, my family had a cabin on an island in the puget sound and we at one point had 4 of them, later we had two working bikes and two parts bikes. Anyhow I could ride all over the island at 11 since there were no cops. Had to stay out of trouble though because there were only a few people on the island at that time and you couldn't get away with much!!!

Keep it that way, unless you don't like going very fast.

My friend came over this morning on his BMW 1100 and we rode into Highland Springs to get the KZ inspected. First choice was busy, so we ended up at the Suzuki dealer. My first experience with a two wheeled engine propelled vehicle was a honda trail 90. I found it last year in my parents back yard and got it running pretty well. i believe it is a 69..? At any rate, a clutchless shifter and kick start are all you need for a fun time around in the dirt. it has turn signals, so the gas crunch might take me to the DMV to get the thing registered...



That bike looks amazing though. How is the mileage? Any funny looks crusing around?

Passed my road test today! I'm legal!



The KZ has about 2500 miles on it. I've got it running pretty good. The carbs are definitely a bit persnickety though. They're old as dirt, and new carb parts for a 35-year old motorcycle are impossible to find.

When I came out of DMV with my new license, my friend was talking to some dude in a Ford SUV about my bike. He said some episode of Pawn Stars had some rare old German bike that they paid like 4 grand for. Turns out it was worth like 25 G's.
