I drop my Mini Cooper S off at the dealership Tuesday morning.

I leave it with 163 HP 200 Ft. Lbs of torque

I pick it up on Thursday with 200 HP and 240 Ft. Lbs. Torque.

I have 700 miles on it so I'll have to wait another 500 miles unti it is broken in to really get on it.

Then what would be the point of even getting behind the wheel?? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

FikseRxSeven 09-15-2003 11:22 PM

wow.... a car that small with that much power..... must be fun

vosko 09-15-2003 11:40 PM

that will destroy an RX8

i want to drive that!

oh wait no i don't, i'll snap an axle in .2 seconds

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

lxk199 09-16-2003 05:17 PM

Vosko, not only would you snap the axle, you'd blow the blower somehow.

Jims-that car is gonna fly! That's like the same amt. of power my car would make with a chip, but mine would make that at the wheels! Muhahahahahahaha. Sorry about that. I'm just happy to have a turbo car again. On another note, I will be in Florida in March, so we should get together for a mini-meet of sorts. I know we miscommunicated for this past year, but we should get together in spring. I want to see both your cars! (I'll be bringing the Jetta 1.8T down-hopefully chipped and with exhaust by then).

Good luck with the Mini!!

You come to the Vero area correct??

Let me know exactly when as soon as you can and where you'll be. We will definatly meet up and show you the car scene.

lxk199 09-17-2003 03:54 PM

Yup, my mom lives in Vero beach. I'll let you know ASAP the dates!

Thanks, and yeah we sohuld race em if I get some mods before then...otherwise, your little mini-mobile will whup me(he 2003 Jetta 1.8t runs a low 15 stock!)! Ha! Out of curiosity, does the mini have traction control or anything like that? The Jetta has traction Control and Elecronic Diff. Lock...

Jims5543 09-19-2003 08:58 PM

I picked it up this evening. Yahoo!! Its even more fun now.

I had a Honduh Accord pick a race with me. I had my wife and kids in the car. PLUS as part of the break in I cannot go to the 6750 RPM redline I have to shift at 4500 RPM AND I cannot floor it I have to run at 1/2 throttle. So I take off and he is screaming fart pipe a farting touring wing a slicing throught the 25 MPH wind. By the time I shift to 4th gear he is ahead 1 car. This is with me being good and honering my break in instructions. LOL! I am sure he will post a kill on a Honduh forum somewhere.

The car feels very strong and sturdy now as far as engine feel. I cannot wait to rev it out. I can feel the differance down low it pulls a lot harder than before. Man this car is a blast.

Jims5543 09-19-2003 10:19 PM

There are 4 new badges on the car. The one on the head contains a seriel #. Then there is one in the intercooler, front fascia and rear hatch lid. There is also engraving on the muffler tips.

94touring 09-19-2003 10:20 PM

MMMM, tasty. Very nicely done, i'm glad you got the works added on.

Jims5543 09-19-2003 10:22 PM

There are a lot of people bashing this kit on the Mini forum. I like the warranty period! I love how smooth this car is more so since the kit. I cannot wait for it to be broken in now. I need to take some road trips.

banzaitoyota 09-19-2003 10:30 PM

HOw much does that damge the wallet?

Jims5543 09-19-2003 10:37 PM

What if I said none of your business?

$6K. Its a lot of money but when you factor in I can now kick the crap out of the car and if anything goes wrong its covered. Trust me, there are quite a few minis with blown engines in the dealerships. Most of the time it is due to idiots running 87 octane in their MCS's though.

You also have to consider these kits are hot I waited 2 months to get mine. There are only so many distributed around the world. This will do much to my cars resale value.

Why would those yahoo's be bashing the kit? I think its great that the factory actually offers a kit that they warranty. How often do you get a chance for more hp with a factory warranty.....not very often.

Jims5543 09-19-2003 11:18 PM

It seems you can get the same HP from a simple pully. It seems more like haters because people can afford this kit.

I think this is an awesome platform to build from in the future. I a couple of years when the warranty is about up I will add some other goodies. Honestly though I have no desire to own a 300HP FWD car. I prefer my TII for super fast. The mini is for fun.

94touring 09-19-2003 11:23 PM

Yeah agreed it doesn't need too much more power. I know you probably paid a tad more for the factory doing the mods, but the warranty makes it well worth it.

Jims5543 09-21-2003 07:20 PM

94Touring - your not going to believe this.

I am looking at this mini - as a daily driver. I am tired of fighting with my wife for the CooperS so I might buy this its pretty cheap too.

Jims5543 09-21-2003 07:29 PM

I think it will match my car well. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

94touring 09-21-2003 09:01 PM

Jim, are you looking for mini's on mini mania? Is that a private seller from the board? Being that you are in Florida, I can ask my buddy Pete (pmstang on the classic side) if he has anything left to sell. He was partner to barnhillmini's for some time there in florida, but recently got out of the car business. I know he had a sportpack replica almost identical to mine, minus the leather interior, but the exterier was a match, and had a 1275. I was seriously considering buying it had my pickup truck deal not gone through. It would be cool to have a classic red and a new red mini. I bet you'll have more fun with the classic! If you think the BMW turns head, wait till you get the classic.

Apex13B 09-21-2003 09:09 PM

dude...go for that original mini too bad i'm 6'4"...i would have one

You'd be surpised how much room is inside one. I bet you'd fit just fine.

Yes get him in touch with me. I would prefer to purchase one in Florida.

That one in the pic above is for sale for $6500. I really dont want to spend a lot on one. So I would say that is my ballpark.

This sounded like a good deal to me.

1971 REAL MKIV Mini Cooper

You are looking at a TRUE MKIV Mini Cooper in the ever-popular Flame Red.

It is a 1971 that was completely rebuilt in 1991 to 1991 specifications with LOW miles!!!

Engine: 1300 (1275cc), single carbureted with PLENTY of power for the highway!! 63 hp

Transmission: 4 speed manual

Brakes: Power with 8.4" front disc brakes

Interior: Black cloth with white headliner, Burr Walnut door and window accents.

Exterior: Flame Red, white roof and mirrors, hood stripes.

Wheels: 12" Rover Mini-Lites (5) with almost new radial tires.

Safety: Four Seat Belts, rear safety light.

Includes: Tools and floor mats.

This Mini is in Missouri.

Please see payment method below!!!!!

All the hard work has been done for you with regards to importation.

None of the worrying, the unbelievable delays, the cost over-runs that almost always come with auto importation.

As of Sept. 12, we are still awaiting the arrival of the title for this Mini. The moment it arrives, I will update this page.

Please take time to look over the pictures, they were all taken Aug. 30 in my garage.

Please do not hesitate to e-mail if you have ANY questions.

Condition: Although an Very Good example of a REAL MKIV Mini Cooper, this is as pre-owned Mini with 67,000+ miles and will have normal wear (chips, some SMALL rust spots and some repainted areas). Other than some small rust spots, there appears to be no rust to be alarmed about. It runs and drives VERY WELL with strong brakes and clutch, easy shifting. There is a loud exhaust leak from when the muffler contacted a loading ramp somewhere during the Mini's trip over here and popped the clamp off of the pipe-to-manifold connection. The leak is NOT from rust or deterioration! A new exhaust manifold clamp has arrived and I am trying to arrange the repair OR I'm willing to take $75 off the price if the buyer is willing to do it him or herself.

Nothing like driving a Mini! Paint shines up VERY nicely, interior is in very good condition. No radio but the wiring and four speakers are there.

This would make a fantastic everyday driver.

Just be ready for the never-ending "rubber-necking" and curious people when you take it out.

It is NOT a concourse show car but a VERY good "10-footer" and it is priced accordingly.

It is not at all unheard of for these little gems to get 40+MPG!

EASY maintenance as well.

Parts are readily available from numerous sources in the U.S..

AND....Please remember that this is a REAL Mini Cooper not to be confused with the many "standard" Minis out there for sale with lesser engines, lesser brakes, lesser interior accomodations and lacking the TRUE Cooper driving experience.

$6950

94touring 09-21-2003 10:23 PM

OK Jim, I sent him an email, his name is Peter Cavallo. I'm sure he can help you out a good bit.

I'm betting this mini you are looking at is in fact a 91. "It is a 1971 that was completely rebuilt in 1991 to 1991 specifications with LOW miles!!!" is almost a dead give away, but thats good if it is a re-vin....less miles on the chassis. I almost asked if it was an early ninety mini. Looks like a good price from the pic and description. That 1300cc is defintly good for highway use, anything under a 1275 is kinda pushing it for highway speeds.

94touring 09-21-2003 10:28 PM

Oh, and if you do get the thing, you would have to bring both mini's so we could meet up at some of these mini car shows!

It seems like your as excited about this as me. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I ran into a dude with an original mini on a trailer at a gas station Sunday. He told me about a big Mini meet in Orlando Florida by Disney. Its 3 days long and one of the days they Autocross them. If you know anything about me you know I love to Autocross. So I am there. Your pretty far away from Florida.

Maybe we can meet up sometime further north between our 2 locals.

Thanks for your help you have no idea how impressed I am at how helpful your being. If you ever need anything let me know.

Srce 09-22-2003 09:27 AM

Looks dope, good dope not bad dope.

94touring 09-22-2003 10:40 AM

Your welcome Jim. I guess when you love cars as much as I do, its just natural to be helpfull. Pete lives in Orlando, not sure if you are in that area, but I know he still has a couple personal mini's that would be cool to check out. And these guys love to auto-x their cars, you'd really enjoy it.

Jims5543 09-22-2003 01:00 PM

We share a common interest. Love for Cars. I still have not figured out how I am going to tell my wife about this. I'll worry about that when I find a car.

I am starting to push this John Coopers Works Mini and I'll tell you its pretty fast. I am impressed at how hard it pulls.

I have to be really careful now or I will get a ticket.

I live about 2 hours South of downtown Orlando 1.5 miles from Mickey Mouse. I look foward to hearing from him.

Do you want me to PM you my phone # to pass on to him?

Thanks again.

94touring 09-22-2003 01:29 PM

I bet that mini hauls some butt, i was impressed with the stock package I drove.

I'm gona PM you his work number and info right now.

Jims5543 09-22-2003 05:03 PM

Stock it was pretty good. I dare say now it is every bit as fast as my 2000 Mustang GT Vert. I will have to take this thing to the track. It feels like a mid 14 second car possible low 14's. We'll see.

Much like our RX-7's though these cas don't really shine until you take a turn with them. I never would have dreamed a FF car could be so much fun.

I got the info. Today was a crazy day I will contact him tomarrow. Thanks again.

94touring 09-22-2003 09:57 PM

Cool, keep me informed what you find out, i'm defenitily interested.

94touring 09-24-2003 10:31 AM

Jim, this is Pete's mini he has for sale. 63 fully restored with all sorts of goodies.

treceb 09-25-2003 07:20 AM

94touring 09-25-2003 10:37 AM

Funny they list it as a 97, but then go on to say they revinned the car, which is highly illegal if you get caught. Not something i'd want to list when I sold the car.
