this is a cordia.... I need to get pics of mine up but these will do for now...

Its an 88 model with 157k on the clock. 1.9 litre 5 spd. When in top shape it is a decent runner maybe a 16.8 or 17 second car. Not bad not great. I havent decided on what motor to throw into it yet though but here are a few pics of some different cordia's.

Twin89Stangs 06-20-2002 03:50 PM

hey hey hey....

plently of ugly cars out there....

I personally like it... and I will be using it as my project car.

It has a fair amount of potential in it.

UniqueTII 06-20-2002 03:57 PM

It looks a little like the old Supras and the Conquest...I don't like the rear fenders, though.

Twin89Stangs 06-20-2002 04:03 PM

yeah that is my thing with it too.... I was thinking about cutting it and modifying it for a round wheel well.....

But the car handles well and has decent pickup with the motor it has... though the motor is on its last leg... but hey I got it beyond cheap!

yeah I have been trying to find stuff that looks good on it... I have decided to get a set of centerline rims for the car. I was wanting the black finished Centerline 17 inch RPM's.

The Conquest and the Starion are the cars bigger brothers.... This is the Pre Eclipse. Simple and easy!

This one I have has no power anything!

Manual steering

Manual brakes

Non Hydraulic clutch I am told

No sound deadening

No power locks

No power windows

No power mirrors

No power seats

It has A/C but I may delete it...

Hey shane thanx for the comment!

phinsup 06-20-2002 04:12 PM

My cousin had a starion, was scary as **** when the turbo would kick in in reverse.

Twin89Stangs 06-20-2002 04:16 PM

bwhahaha

I drove that svo and put it into reverse like I would my GT and the turbo kicked in and it slide sideways some because it broke them loose! lol

My g/f hates going fast backwards.

But this is my new project car....

Whether a mitsu engine goes in or a Rotary goes in it will be my daily driver as I will either sell my GT or buy a 60's mustang to drop the driveline into....

Twin89Stangs 06-21-2002 01:18 AM

few more pics of them...

I dont think these look as good but they are somewhat closer to stock...

dac 06-21-2002 11:14 AM

Looks like Rotary material

Does it have that funky Mitsubishi dash and controls?

1.9 liter turbo is probably decent, but I'm guessing a 2.6 conquest would drop right in?

bigtime 06-21-2002 11:16 AM

i wasnt wondering what one is but alright

winger 06-21-2002 11:22 AM

looks like a merkur xr4ti.....my dad had one and crashed it....turbo rwd...

the conquest motor will not fit as it is set up for RWD.... though a decent idea...

as for the Merkur yeah those are pretty sweet! I have been looking for one for as an engine donor for my 2.3 coupe...

here is a pic of the interior... mine is of course I left hand drive model and my interior is basically all black.... so it looks better! lol but a bit dirtier.....

I had thought about a rotary in it.... and converting it to rwd... it does have a solid axle setup in back so maybe swapping in like a Ford 7.5 or 8.8 would work or maybe an IRS setup off of a Jag or Cobra... or something like that....

dac 06-21-2002 11:34 PM

If it's not RWD you will have a hell of a time clearing a transmission tunnel down the center unless you cut it all out. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

A Rotary FWD would be a handfull, not a lot of torque there so it might work, but I'm not sure what you could use for a transmission.

A 2.6 wouldn't bolt to that bellhousing? Just stick it sidewise. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Twin89Stangs 06-21-2002 11:40 PM

lol

well got to looking at the car....

That tunnel is pretty decent sized... maybe if I watched how I mounted the motor it may just work... or I can get a buddy to do some sheet metal work and then lay carpet over it to make it look stock or something... though this car is pretty good in the winter so I am a lil hesitant to make it RWD as I already have 2 of them....

dac 06-22-2002 09:52 AM

Okay how about a Mazda Rotary mated to a Subaru Transaxle with 4WD? The Tunnel would only have to be big enough to fit the drivelive running to the rear diff you would have to add. You could keep it FWD and add the RWD at any time.

Kinda a poor mans WRX

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Twin89Stangs 06-22-2002 12:08 PM

hahaha now that is an interesting thought....

may have to look into that! lol

dac 06-22-2002 12:37 PM

Kennedy Engineered sells the adapters/flywheel and clutches to do the mating. The Subaru Trans will give you equal length front drivelines which will help to eliminate torque steer.

You then just need to do something about the rearend. But could do that after the car is running with FWD... Ya it would be cool.

Twin89Stangs 06-22-2002 02:03 PM

really???

hhmmm....

the rearend may not be a huge problem... since Rotary's dont develop the kind of torque a V8 does I can probably fit in a 7.5 rear end out of a Ford in the back. Would have to figure out rear gearing. But that may not be so hard.... the car kind of has a tunnel right now. decent sized almost big enough for a T5 tranny....

Oh I just found another pics of one I like...

excuse the fact it is purple and has a fart can. But I like the look low and aggressive looking!

This is the exact color mine is except it has stock rims and no pinstripping.

will get some pics as soon as my bitch of a step mom lets me use one of their 5 digital camera's... nope she aint willing to lend out a single ******* one....

isamu 07-01-2002 10:53 AM

Well I think it is pretty cool looking. The side skirts really do the car justice. I think it would be pretty awesome with a 13bt stuffed in there.

Twin89Stangs 07-01-2002 11:30 AM

that would be pretty damn sweet..... lol or a 13bt awd!

Wooffinn 07-27-2002 07:18 AM

Hey all, wooffinn here. On a technical note stangs, the tunnel is that size because the Japanese version of the Cordia[the Decelia I think was it's name] on their domestic market actually ran a 4wd model. It ran the dash motor[starion eng with jet valves] and a small T27 turbo i believe. As we speak, a friend and I are experimenting with a early 323 FWD rotary concept car but it's **** load of febricating, belting with big hammers etc.!!

An old friend used to have a cordia with a highly modifed 2.0l[I think your 1.9 is basically the same engine] with all the usual turbo/intercooler mods. It ran flat 13's but he could drive greasy stick up a dead dogs bum, so I'm sure there was quicker times! Unfortunately it met a timbery death one night. :P

Twin89Stangs 07-27-2002 04:52 PM

well I still havent decided on the drivetrain for this Cordia yet... got some considering to do...

pengaru 08-02-2002 08:18 PM

I dunno, i'd probably ditch this car and pickup a starquest. Rwd already, beefy driveline if you get the models that were used for competition, and a much more agressive appearance. My coworker has one that runs 12's, of course nothing is stock under the hood, stock I think it has 2 injectors (TBI) and a more insane engine management system than the 2nd gen rx-7 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png.

Twin89Stangs 08-11-2002 11:45 PM

Well this is my toy.... I havent decided on a path for it yet....
