Got the newest Turbo magazine in the mail this past weekend, they got these supras with all stock internals turning over 600 hp and daily driven, pretty impressive, I guess I havent noticed what they have been doing with those cars!

Joe Flo 02-03-2003 07:42 PM

Yeah I noticed that too since I was looking at them when I bought my 7. They are mighty fine but the people i know who own them are pricks and refuse to race them. And on top of that those things are freaking exspensive if you want a decent twin turbo!!

Rob x-7 02-03-2003 07:47 PM

they have been going up in price alot, fetching close to $30,000 and up!

Joe Flo 02-03-2003 07:49 PM

Tell me about it.........their was a broken 93 that was all dented and banged up. barely running and still wnt for 23,000!!

Rob x-7 02-03-2003 07:51 PM

another car the dealer couldnt give away!

The last year they sold them the dealer dropped the price by almost

$10,000 to the $30,000 range, so imagine if you were one of the poor

bastards that paid full price a few months before that, and now a new model year car is being sold for $10,000 less then what yours cost new, so basically you car just diminished in price by more then half!

I seem to rememeber some law suits.

93 R1 02-03-2003 07:53 PM

They can do more then 600 on stock internals. I've heard of closer to 800 on the supraforums from quite a few people.

One day there will be one in the garage next to my 7 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Rob x-7 02-03-2003 07:59 PM

they have this other one in there that is over 1000 hp

r_xplicit 02-03-2003 08:10 PM

that will be my next auto purchase unless i can find a 996 gt-2 factory cup car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif for about hte same $$

yeah right...

Huh? He said it would be *next to* his 7. Thus he wouldn't be trading in his 7...

Turbo II 02-04-2003 03:21 PM

i like em but they are a little bit too heavy. ive always been happy with toyota, hell my first car was an 82 toyota starlet and it ran fine for a long time. tells ya they got something right with engine life and sports quality

75 Repu 02-04-2003 03:28 PM

I like supras and the engine kicks ass.. I have read that most of the guys who mod them out to 800+ still use the stock bottom end..so Toyota must have done something right with that.. Now if only they werent so damn expensive..

A '97 TT weighs 3515 pounds. That's about all the reasons you need right there.

75 Repu 02-04-2003 03:34 PM

ouch, thats heavy..

they don't all run bad times.

it's hard to hook all that power off the line... they can run great times at the track far easier than a much lighter FD, it really depends on the driver. The car is very capable, the heavy weight is more of an issue when you try and road race the thing. My buddy took his to gingerman and couldnt pass a focus svt driven by an instructor. Gingerman is a small technical course, a FC would be great for it though.

75 Repu 02-04-2003 04:00 PM

hehe The guy in the Mustang must have been like "WHOA!!"

Please use correct terminology -

track = road track

strip = drag strip

All you do is confuse people when you use "track" to mean drag strip...

Thank you.

6. A path or course laid out for a race, for exercise, etc.

I don't think saying 'track' specifies a road course or drag strip, it's a very general term and in my opinion is correctly used when describing either one. I personally think you are adding context to a word which the definition does not contain.

Take your slang and shove it?

1Revvin7 02-04-2003 05:10 PM

yeah I got the mag, i was impressed too, too bad those cars are so damn heavy.

SPOautos, please specify what sort of track you are talking about. Slot car track? Sidewalk? Bike path? Off-road rally course? Slalom course?

Thank you.

I believe the thread implies the context of automobile racing? But a track is by no means limited to a road course, I think others will agree.
