thinking about getting one as a daily driver.. what do you guys think ?

I love the look of the 2.5RS. The are good all around, but not much in the way of power. Are you planning on modding it or just leave it alone?

nopistons94 06-13-2005 07:57 PM

taking out a small loan for one, building my credit up and driving it around basically. I'll do stupid mods to it, foglights and such, i want to go camping and stuff with it since its AWD and decent in dirt

Get a Jeep Wrangler if you wanna go camping. 4x4 rocks!! At least with a wrangler you can do mods to it. A flowmaster exhaust sounds great on the I-6.

I've got an 01 2.5 rs for a daily driver..love it. don't much like the bug eye 2.5..old body with 2 door is my mug of beer.

Dad's got a Jeep Wrangler Sahara edition that's pretty much the best thing I've been in for trail riding.

its either a subaru 2.5rs or a 96-98 bmw 325 or 328 auto cause im sick of driving manual every day

so subaru or BMW?

I have an '05 2.5RS with an auto and I really wish i got the 5spd. When i was looking to buy I thought the auto would be a good choice because it's my daily driver, but after driving it for a few months I really think i should have gotten the 5spd.

If you have a heavy foot (i do) and are coming from a manual, it feels like you are fighting the tranny most of the time. When it comes to passing/merging situation on the highway, if you aren't careful with your right foot, the car will lag while the engine spins and down shifts to 2nd gear (hope that makes sense). It's terrible and has gotten me in more trouble than i can remember, and I've only had the car since Oct. Basically the tranny doesn't feel that refined, that and the gearing between second and third seems too spaced out. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Yeah, and it's pretty slow. Otherwise, a nice car, my only complaint is the auto tranny. For camping are you looking at riding down nice flat dirt trails or is it rough terrain? If it's anything more than a dirt trail you may have some problems with ground clearance and the serious overhangs on the car (read: no entry/exit angle to speak of).

My friends car is an auto, we are converting it to manual because the auto sucks balls
